Formerly known as Front Steps Housing & Services, our organization has served Cleveland’s most vulnerable neighbors for nearly 40 years.
Rising Well (formerly Front Steps Housing & Services) is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals and families through integrated mental health, substance use, and supportive services—helping people build stable, fulfilling lives. Rising Well is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families through integrated care that addresses mental health, substance use, and social challenges—helping people build stable, fulfilling lives. We provide permanent supportive housing alongside comprehensive, person-centered services designed to promote stability, wellness, and long-term independence. Our work includes behavioral health services, case management, and supportive programs that address the root causes of housing instability and poverty. Our story began in 1986, when four Catholic sisters from the Congregation of St. Joseph opened the doors of what was then called Transitional Housing Incorporated (THI). Responding to a shortage of safe, affordable housing for low-income women, they transformed a former motel on Cleveland’s near West Side into a place of dignity, care, and hope. As community needs evolved, so did we. In 2013, the organization shifted from temporary housing to permanent supportive housing, and in 2014 became Front Steps Housing & Services. Today, as Rising Well, we are expanding our focus on behavioral and mental health services—working to prevent crisis, strengthen stability, and meet people where they are. Rising Well continues to reduce reliance on emergency systems, support recovery and wellness, and create lasting pathways toward independence for individuals and families across Cuyahoga County.

💜 MENTAL ILLNESS AWARENESS WEEK: Knowing Where to Turn Matters
Awareness is important. But when someone needs support, knowing where to find it matters just as much.
Here in Cuyahoga County, people can access a network of mental health and substance use services—from outpatient treatment and recovery support to crisis response and community-based care.
Nationally, millions of adults with mental illness still go without treatment. In 2025, 26.9 million U.S. adults with any mental illness received no mental health treatment—underscoring why accessible services and knowing where to turn matter.
💚 Rising Well is proud to be part of Greater Cleveland's behavioral health community, providing mental health counseling and trauma-informed therapy, substance use treatment, case management, recovery support, telehealth and supportive housing.
Because building a community that supports mental health also means making sure people know:

💚 MENTAL ILLNESS AWARENESS WEEK
Mental illness doesn't have one look.
It can affect people of every age, background and circumstance—and it may not always be visible to the people around them.
That's one reason stigma can be so harmful. Assumptions about what mental illness “looks like,” who experiences it or whether someone should simply be able to “push through” can make it harder for people to talk openly and seek support.
This Mental Illness Awareness Week, NAMI is focusing on “Building Community: Supporting Mental Well-being Together.” It's a reminder that creating healthier communities starts with replacing judgment with understanding and making space for honest conversations about mental health.
💜 At Rising Well, we believe every person deserves to be met with dignity, compassion and access to care that recognizes their individual experiences and needs.
Mental illness can affect anyone. Understanding can start with all of us.

We're one week away from our annual Trick-or-Treat Flu Clinic! 🎃
Kids and guardians are invited to dress up and join us at the Parma Medical Center for a morning of family-friendly games, candy and treats, giveaways and flu shots. No appointment is necessary, but please bring your ID and insurance card.
Please note: This event is only for flu shots. If you have questions about other vaccines, please talk with your pediatrician. Unable to attend?
