Enrichment and after school programs for students of Campus International School

Cleveland Print Room 12/02/2016

Here's an update from Lori Kella, who helped bring the great photography program to the middle school this year. Go check out the exhibit this weekend if you can!

I just wanted to send out a reminder that all of the CIS students that participated in the Multiple Exposure Photography Program will have some of their photogrpahs exhibited at the Cleveland Print Room. The reception is Friday December 2, from 5-9pm, so I hope to see you all there. I'll copy information form the Cleveland Print Room's email as well as a link to their website. The Print Room is located at 2550 Superior Ave. and they are on the ground floor of the Artcraft building. The outside entrance is near the middle of the building, but you can get to it through the other doors as well. Feel free to come anytime between 5 and 9 and stay as long as you like. I'm excited to see the work of our amazing scholars, so pass this information along to anyone that might be interested in attending the reception.

Here's some good news -- we have 10 scholarships available for the middle school Makers Space on Mondays, now through Dec 12. Students can start any week and participate in the program -- including supplies! -- for no cost. They'll make awesome handcrafted items that they can sell at the Holiday Shoppe. And student entrepreneurs keep the proceeds of what they sell. It's a pretty sweet deal, and the spots are first-come first served, open to grades 5-8. Just email [email protected] to request a scholarship for your student, and don't forget to include the students name, grade, teacher, and full parent contact information, including phone and email.

If anyone is interested in joining our CIS Ski Club, registration opens Saturday, Oct. 1. The club is open to any student who is 8 years old by January 1, and costs just $223.05, including tax, for lift tickets, lessons, and equipment rentals. Every member gets 5 weeks of lessons, either snow board or ski rentals (there is a discounted option if you own your own equipment) and free skiing during our club hours for the whole season. We ski at Boston Mills on Sundays from 3:00-7:00, and once you complete your lessons you can ski at any of the three resorts -- Boston Mills, Brandywine or Alpine Valley. In addition, each member gets 4 $10 value passes they, a friend or family member can use for lift ticket and equipment any time the resorts are open. It's a really great deal -- definitely the least expensive option for students. And we're a self-driving club, so you get yourself to and from the resort and have flexibility on when you come and go.

Registration is online, via the resort website. Sign up by Nov 18 to receive your pass before the winter break. Here is the link to register: http://bmbw.com/signup.html
or there will be a link posted on the website (www.bmbw.com) on their club program page

I've also left printed flyers in the front lobby at both north and south campus. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me: [email protected].

I hope to see lots of you on the slopes this winter!

We often get questions about how the CIS+ programs work, including some things that are new this year. So if you've been wondering, you're not alone! We're hoping this FAQ sheet helps answer some of them.

Lots of parents are saying they didn't get the flyer that came home last week for fall programs. So here it is! We'd love to see your children after school!

08/03/2016

We've gotten some requests for info about this year's after school programs, so I wanted to post this update. Programs will start the week after Labor Day, and run five days/week continuously when school is in session. (We'll have programs on early dismissal days, too! Just not on school closing days.) The program is pretty similar to last year, but with more choices, and we'll be offering some sessions at South Campus for middle school students.

Flyers with complete program offerings, prices and information will come home the first week of school -- so check the backpacks! And we'll also post the flyer here on Facebook once it's out. If you have questions or want to sign up for our email list, send us your information: [email protected]. We're looking forward to seeing everyone!

It was great to see everyone at last night's spring showcase. Thanks to Negative Space Gallery for being a wonderful host, to all our talented program partners for bringing us great programs, and to the wonderful families of Campus International School -- for being wonderful families.

Sorry that we've been so slack about posting! We've been really busy growing our after school programs, and we have to say how glad we are that so many of you have joined us. If you haven't joined yet, but would like to know more, please get in touch! You can always reach us at [email protected].

We're happy to have launched swimming, soccer and dance this spring, and looking forward to starting Bricks4Kids on April 26. We're also busy planning an end-of-year showcase before Memorial Day.

If you've got feedback on any of the programs we're doing, or ideas for things you'd like to see, please let us know. We promise to be back soon with photos and updates.

We've been away from our page for a while, but we're back, and the spring programs are officially launched. We've grown again, with new offerings in swimming, soccer, dance and even Legos. There's still room in most programs (except for swimming), so let us know if your child wants to be part of the fun after school. Just email [email protected] for more information.

If your child is participating in the Creative Expression club at CIS, or if you just want to find more cool writing opportunities -- you might want to check out this great workshop at Lake Erie Ink on Nov 14.

We're working on the schedule for Winter classes (starting Jan 4), so we can get registration information out in November. If you have ideas you really want to share with us, shoot us an email at [email protected]. In the meantime, here are some new fall classes from our friends at Foluke Cultural Arts, for anyone who might be interested.
