Zeta Omega Chapter Official page Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Omega Psi Phi was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

is the first international fraternal organization to be founded on the campus of a historically black college. The founders were three Howard University undergraduates, -- Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman. Joining them was their faculty adviser, Dr. Ernest Everett Just. From the initials of the Greek phrase meaning, "friendship is essential to the soul," the name Omega Psi Phi

Having had already earned a degree from Dartmouth College and teaching at Howard University, Ernest E. Just was not initially eligible for membership in The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

However, due to his mentorship and support of our three undergraduate founders, he became the fraternity's first honorary member on February 28, 1912 and is properly and appropriately considered one of our founders.
