We continue to witness powerful transformation through our women’s ministry at the Northeast Reintegration Center in Ohio. This season has been marked by growth, courage, and tangible progress as women step into new purpose. In our Workforce Development program, we proudly graduated nine women who participated in mock interviews led by volunteers from Superior Beverage Group’s HR and warehouse teams. Clients’ willingness to prepare for reentry reflects their faith in the truth of Jeremiah 29:11—”God has plans to give them hope and a future.”

Our programs focused on personal restoration are thriving. Eleven women graduated from our Motherhood program, gaining tools to rebuild and strengthen relationships with their children, motivated by the outlook of Isaiah 54:13: “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.” Our Character Development class is in full swing, deep into a 14-week journey through book two, while a new round of our Boundaries program launched with 14 women committed to breaking cycles of codependency. Meanwhile, Celebrate Recovery is at capacity, with participants courageously completing Principle #4—taking a moral inventory of their past hurts, habits, and hang-ups—reflecting Psalm 139:23-24: “Search me, God, and know my heart… see if there is any offensive way in me.”

We are especially encouraged by the bravery displayed in Making Peace and Beyond, where ten women are walking through their past to recognize where Jesus has been present in their stories. As they begin to shape their testimonies, they are living out Revelation 12:11: “They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony.” Their willingness to face pain and redeem it for God’s glory is nothing short of inspiring, and we are honored to walk alongside them in this sacred work of healing and purpose.

Most exciting is the launch of our new 12-week program, Rooted—written by True Freedom Ministries and inspired by the vision of the NERC warden. Designed to help women overcome trauma while building confidence and identity in Christ, Rooted is already bearing fruit. With six faithful, servant-hearted volunteers leading the way, participants are learning to stand firm in who God says they are. As Colossians 2:6-7 reminds us, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him.” We are deeply grateful for what God is doing and remain expectant for all that is to come.

God is doing amazing things at Stark Regional Community Correction Center. Strong is a 40-minute fitness class. Female clients learn to appreciate their bodies and train for strength. We meet once a week in the multipurpose room utilizing minimal equipment: exercise bands, yoga blocks, wobble boards, tennis balls, chairs, the floor, and wall space. As we exercise, we discuss form, nutrition, the amazing body God has designed, and the fact that participants might be sore for two days! Simple isometric squats get sweaty and shaky when paired with a workout timer that cues band rows or inchworms. Laughter ensues, and we high five each other for another job well done.

The mood in Strong at SRCCC is focused and loose. Often, we listen to one another’s high school sports team or neighborhood club success stories. Smiles always appear as we reminisce about happy times and proud memories of awards and trophies. The vibe is uplifting; experienced clients cheer on new participants to keep going, reminding them to breathe. Because Strong at Stark is an exercise class, participants typically haven’t attended other True Freedom Ministries programs. These clients usually open up while exercising, sharing concerns of their future and families along with spiritual questions. God in His goodness often presents opportunities for sharing the good news of Christ’s love.
We wrap up class with stretching and a corporate prayer. The girls sigh with relief. They are worn out, glad it’s over, and happy they did it. Please pray for these women to know Jesus as their Savior and to grow in His truth. Below is what clients are saying:

“Val keeps me motivated.”

“This class is hard, but I feel better after it’s over.”

“I need to do this; there are too many carbs in here.”

Chaplain David Hill is making a huge impact teaching Celebrate Recovery at Grafton Correctional Institution. This class is a Christ-centered, 12-step, biblically based program designed to help individuals overcome “hurts, habits, and hang-ups” (e.g., addiction, abuse, anger). It utilizes 8 principles based on the Beatitudes and 4 participant guides to foster healing and spiritual growth.
Here’s what clients are saying:

“I want to thank True Freedom Ministries for allowing Pastor David Hill to come to Grafton and bring the Gospel to our hearts. I’m in the Celebrate Recovery class, and I’ve learned so much about my relationship with God. I’m in a much better place in my life, so I can enter back into society in a blessed way.”

With the help of Celebrate Recovery and Pastor David Hill, God is back in my life forever. I’m so thankful to True Freedom Ministries for all they do for prisoners like me. It makes a huge difference in our lives.”
