The melodic death metal of Druparia! These guys were fantastic, and the singer reminded me of a metal Michael Hutchence, with that mane o hair 😆🤘. Definitely worth checking out, they are some superbly talented musicians!!!

Iron Brigade hails from Pittsburgh, and is comprised of some truly awesome musicians; a heartwarming aside, the singer (who belts it out and gives Bruce Dickinson a run for his money) plays alongside his young son, who is an absolute phenom on guitar. They were such a powerhouse of a band, and stuck to the Madien and Dio traditions of fantasy-eque lyrics that soar alongside technical instrumentals. Can't wait until their next return to The Land!!!

The 3rd set was in the tavern portion of the Beachland, and Kurnugia blasted the joint with visceral and guttural death metal growls and double bass drumming. I've seen them before, and they do not disappoint. They are so technical and streamlined; the drummer, Chris, is a true BEAST and it was remarkable to 1. watch him and 2. watch other people watch him and exclaim their total amazement at his abilities. Even if yer not a death metal fan, it's well worth it to go to a show, especially if this powerhouse is playing, because the skills these people possess are bar none. They literally play so hard, it can constitute a work out 😆🏋️🤘🖤 . Such a great act to have following Sunday Brunch in the Tavern, lol! They are truly stellar!

Shotgun Bowl's 2nd act, was the old school metal sound of Dark Secret. They are the traditional metal of heavy, sludgy guitars with atmospheric vocals belting out truly poetic lyrics, coupled with pounding drums. Calling their performance "outstanding," doesn't even come close to cutting it; as a FYI side note, thy were also named "Ohio's Most Metal Band" in 2021. Such a stellar group of musicians,, and definitely worthy of a like, follow, and check out if they are playing at a venue near you 🤘🖤🤘

Shotgun Bowl's 1s performers, Iron B***h ! The vocals on this woman are bar none!!! Hannah Renee Sowry is a f'n powerhouse, her voice literally....soars. They are heavy metal at its finest, and the guitar player, Dylan, is in other projects, namely Assault, and Olathia, and is one of the best guitar players I've ever seen (I actually saw him a couple weeks prior to this, when he was filling in for Vulgar Display of Pantera). He left the Bowl after Iron B***h's first set, to run to the Lorain Theater so he could watch a couple of his students (this kid teaches, too!) perform, then rushed back to be on stage for Olathia's set later in the day. The passion and work all of these folks put into their craft, for the love of it, is utterly beyond impressive. This band is the real deal, and if you want to be blown away, def check them out!

Majorly Big Shame On Me for only seeing Olathia for the first time this past Sunday @ the 4th Annual Shotgun Bowl at The Beachland Ballroom and Tavern! I cannot express enough how amazing these people are, like should be signed by a national label amazing. They are a power thrash metal band comprised of some mega talented musicians; the lead singer, Chris E. Olathia has the voice of a lark and is seriously one of the most loved people in the music scene, that I have met, thus far.
She created the Shotgun Bowl to bring the together once a year for a majorly awesome 6 hour family friendly event, featuring 8 different bands, who rotate their performances between the ballroom and the tavern. There is a free compilation CD with music from all the performers given to those who attend, and it is such a beautiful display of the camaraderie and friendships between the bands in the metal scene. Many of the performers are in several different projects, everyone has the best time, and are, as one musician divulged, "here solely for the love of music, and the scene." Over the course of the day, every artist, and many of the fans, expressed their love and gratitude to Chris, "The Queen of the Scene" for her generosity, kindness, and passion for this stellar community. It was truly the best way to spend a Sunday Funday. Thank you, Chris, and my cohorts with Heavy on Cleveland , for such a wonderful time 🤘🖤🖤!
Stay tuned for more photo dumps in the upcoming days (there are still 7 bands left 😆🤘)
