💦 Game Variations for Speech Practice:
- Color & Size Matching: Have the child describe their target before throwing (e.g., "I want to pop the big blue one!").

- Target Practice: Draw chalk targets on a fence or wall with numbers, letters, or articulation words. The child names the target, then tries to hit it with a balloon.

- Ready, Set... Wait: Practice anticipation and core vocabulary (go, more, stop) by holding a balloon and waiting for the child to say the magic word before tossing it.

-Color & Size Matching: Have the child describe their target before throwing (e.g., "I want to pop the big blue one!").

Activity Variations for Speech Practice :

🦋The "I Spy" Description Game: Instead of pointing, have the child describe a bug they found using three clues (e.g., "It is green, it hops, it is on a leaf") until you guess it.

🐛The Bug Carrier Request: Put plastic bugs or pictures of bugs inside plastic eggs or containers. The child must use a carrier phrase, such as "Open the green box, please" or "I want the beetle," to see what is inside.First, Next, Last Sequencing: After the hunt, have the child recall the steps of their adventure to build narrative skills (e.g., "First we put on shoes, next we looked under the rock, last we saw a worm").

🐜Bug Sound Articulation: Use bug movements to practice speech sounds. Have a toy or a real bug "fly" to different target speech cards hidden in the grass, making a "Zzzz" sound for a bee or a "Ssss" sound for a snail. Preventing the "summer slide"—where kids can lose 20% to 40% of their school-year reading gains—is all about keeping reading low-pressure, highly accessible, and fully customized to their interests. The goal for summer break is to focus purely on reading for pleasure rather than on strict academic drills.
