Labels. Lots of them thrown around about people. What if the only label we used is "human being"? Then what would happen?
I didn't live through the 1960's. As I think about what's going on in the world today, I imagine there are some similarities now to back then. Lots of changes, anger, protests, violence, foreign conflicts, this-side-versus-that-side, pushes for peace, pushes for rule-following, identity struggles, innovation. I do think technology has made our world "smaller." Has it made it better? Sure and not-so-sure. I think Bob Dylan's song The Times They are A-Changin' still applies. My two cents for today.
Who all is in favor of pretend "news?" Information presented without the basic fundamental of both sides of a story or, at the very least, trying to get the other side and they declined interviews. Do people just want echo-chamber information or more well-rounded, foundational forms of journalism? Because, I get confused about what seems to be getting a ton of attention and it's not objective, both-sides, let's-put-the-facts-on-the-table journalism. Any thoughts on this?

This is from my brother-and-sister-in-law's house in an east side community. More than a foot of snow. How are you faring as the flakes fall?

Over the holidays, we hit Toronto's sites and sounds! Got to see some historic homes and great views of the city. Really good food there. We did have to drive 4 hours in an ice storm to get there, experience 50 MPH winds, snow, rain, and cold. But definitely a cool city. Happy Friday-Eve!!!

Happy New Year, everyone! I'm just getting back from the holidays. While I was away, I found one of these blasts from the past! It's a cloth that you can clean your phone screen with. We all look very serious in this picture. Maybe because clean electronics are serious business :) Or maybe because my face is missing my beard!

This could affect nearly everyone in Ohio! You will soon be able to shop prices for your medical procedures and services through a new, free website from the group Patient Rights Advocate. It's called OhioHospitalPrices.org where you can select a hospital and a procedure and it will call up the prices for you. You can also compare the same services across hospital systems or within the same system. It will give you negotiated prices, costs if you have insurance or if you want the cash-pay option. It will go live tomorrow morning at 5 o'clock! I hope you'll be able to save some money using this. We found some common procedures that had big price differences...as much at 10 times the lowest amount.
Charging for medical questionnaires? Has this happened to you?

I was putting up some holiday decorations over the weekend and found this tucked away in a bin! Who remembers this being a thing? Too funny.
I hope you're staying warm this week...with something other than a video of a fireplace :)

Are you using the Affordable Care Act Marketplace to get your health insurance? I have a story today about the latest on government subsidies, real people affected, what Republicans and Democrats from the U.S. House say are the issues, what President Trump has kind of floated out there as far as a next move, and more. See you at 6pm and 7pm.

This is my amazing grandfather just before he married my awesome grandmother. They always bring a smile to my face. I came across these pictures as I was saving photos. They were so supportive, even allowing me to live with them when I was an intern at a news network in Georgia. I believe I have grandpa's hairline (ha!), but they both gave me a lot of love. We all need that support system. People who care. People who recognize the effort it takes to do things in the right way. He wrote me letters of encouragement when I was in college. I still have them. It's a reminder of those who have shown us the way, cheered us on, and provided an environment for us to succeed.

Yet another "great and thoughtful" driver to tell you about. This picture was taken in downtown Cleveland shortly after a big piece of siding popped out of his trailer and onto the street in front of us. The junk is piled high...higher than any kind of barrier to help stop stuff from falling out. We got away from this guy...quickly! Be careful out there, everyone!
