We worked on a customer's laptop, which was complaining about being hacked and making weird noises. Turns out they simply landed on a page from a scammer that is designed to take over the browser and make it appear like a bunch of virus popups have occurred.
In reality all it did was put the browser in fullscreen and gets the user in a state of fear so they call the number. After calling the number they will try to coax the user into letting them remote into the computer and from there they could do what they want.
So, if you should see something similar either close out of the browser or simply force your computer to turn off by the power button.
