A leader in education, and the first program of its kind in Ohio, our Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) program is an ideal choice for Certified Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Hygienists who have a strong desire to further their dental expertise in the art of restorative dentistry.
In the Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) program, you’ll specialize in the placement of advanced remedial intra-oral procedures—important work that dentists can entrust to you with your new training and credentials. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist in our program, you’ll gain real-world experience, including the placement of preventive or restorative materials such as pit and fissure sealants, amalgam restorative materials and metallic/non-metallic restorative materials (fillings).

Established in 1976, the Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) program was the first of its kind in Ohio. Located in our state-of-the-art facility on the interdisciplinary Health Education Campus in Samson Pavilion, we are proud of our reputation as the leader in EFDA education.
