Rivet Counter wreck victim!
Well, we've seen a lot of shipping mishaps over the years, but this one might take the cake! We're pretty sure the delivery vehicle ran over the package. This unit was returned by a very understanding and patient customer who will receive a replacement model this week. It will become a "parts" model, and what few parts we can salvage from it will be used by our Product Support team for warranty repairs.
If you're looking to add an undamaged NS 4000 to your roster, we have a few remaining in stock. Fear not, if something like this happens to your model, rest assured, we have plenty of parts available to repair it! Haha! 😂

We had a wonderful time operating on member Roy Masterson’s layout in Chattanooga this weekend, even though one of us derailed a coal train! As we wait to begin the construction of our own model railroad at ScaleTrains, we’ll be scheduling monthly operating sessions with local modelers like Roy, who also happens to be an NMRA member.
Become a Vol State Railway member today so you can partake in these fun op sessions this spring. 🚂

Last weekend, we held our first event at ScaleTrains with new and prospective members. We ran trains, looked at the blueprints for Todd Arnett's Norfolk Southern Princeton-Deepwater Division layout, and discussed our future expansion into the 3,000 sqft warehouse space where our future HO Scale model railroad will be located. We had a wonderful time and look forward to having more events like this on a regular basis.
We're currently accepting applications for new members. Not a member yet? Fill out an application by clicking here: https://volstaterailway.org/new-member-registration/

Dave Oroszi took this photo of an early Norfolk Southern manifest train at Cohutta on May 27, 1983. Notice that the H Line was not double-tracked back then. Much has changed over the past 39 years for both railroad lines in Cohutta. We'd like to thank for Mr. Oroszi letting us share this photo.

Ed Painter snapped this photo of Southern Railway 4501 at Cohutta, Georgia on September 23, 2015. The I Line is to the right. On this date, 4501 was running from Chattanooga to Atlanta over the H Line before continuing south to Macon, Georgia the following day. The reason for this ferry move was a set of upcoming trips between Macon & Tennile and a set of trips between Atlanta & Toccoa, GA.

Our first official club gathering begins at 3PM. We look forward to seeing everyone who RSVP'd and are excited to watch trains together. Please, follow the signs for parking as there will not be enough room for everyone to park at Ed's house. Don't forget a coat, either!

We're all ready for the event this afternoon. We'll have a TV showing our announcement video along with membership applications and project vision packets for those interested in joining the society today. Those who sign up and pay three (3) months dues will receive a $10 ScaleTrains discount code.
Join us on Saturday, November 6th for fun, food, and fellowship at Ed Painter's "Railfan Spot" in Cohutta, Georgia. See Ed's house on Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/GsbKhpob5Q2gRn2R9
The event begins at 3PM Eastern at Ed Painter's house (address: 5265 Red Clay Road Cohutta, GA) where attendees can watch trains on Norfolk Southern's H Line and I Lines throughout the afternoon and evening. Delay In Block Productions will be there to host a YouTube livestream in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the model railroad club. During the event, attendees may also tour Ed's HO Scale layout and run their own model trains.
In the evening, when it's too dark to photograph trains, we will have a campfire and cookout featuring delicious Wisconsin-style bratwurst. We encourage attendees to bring a side dish (chips, dips, cottage cheese, potato salad, etc.), their drink of choice (alcohol is permitted), and a camping chair to sit on by the fire.
This event is open to everyone, not just club members. If you are considering membership, we will have applications available for you to fill out and our official project vision packet so that you can learn more about our efforts to bring a modern HO Scale railroad club to northern Georgia.
Celebrity guests include:
James Wright (jlwii2000 on YouTube)
Mike Cyr (Virtual Railfan)
Ed Painter (our host)
