Such a special day in Cleveland hosting the Big Bets for America Conference. With $350M of investments committed to the City of Cleveland and the State of Ohio, the nation is taking notice of the incredible work we are doing to transform our iconic city in this next chapter. From the new investments secured for the Cleveland Housing Investment Fund ($10M) and the Site Readiness for Good Jobs Fund ($13M), the power of public-private partnerships is truly on display in our great city. Mayors and Governors are on the frontlines of rebuilding our economy and democracy. Great to convene Governor and mayors from the South and Midwest as part of our Coalition at this year’s U.S. Conference of Mayors Annual Meeting to discuss voting rights and how we continue to fight for the people.

As someone who grew up in Cleveland, I know what homeownership meant to my grandparents when they came north from the segregated south seeking opportunity. As mayor, I’ve seen how housing challenges impact every part of our city.

Today, I published a new piece on Cleveland’s Housing Innovation District and why cities need a new playbook for America’s housing crisis. Cities can no longer afford to look at housing in isolation. We need a coordinated strategy to lift up everyone. Link in comments.

On Sunday, my longtime friend and tireless community organizer Kenn Johnson opened his home so 200 Clevelanders could meet Dr. Amy Acton Acton, the next Governor of Ohio and he put us all to work to turn out the vote.

And last night, I stood alongside Mayor Andrew J. Ginther (Columbus) and Mayor Aftab Pureval (Cincinnati) to co-host a fundraiser for the Ohio Democratic Party’s full statewide ticket. The Three C’s stand together because we know what’s at stake in November. From the governor's race, all the way down the ballot, Ohio wins when you vote.

Cleveland’s going to miss on the gridiron but we will miss his impact in our community even more. Thank you Myles, for being an amazing example of excellence and achievement on and off the field. Cleveland will always be a home for you my brother!

So much energy this evening in Cleveland for to be the next Governor of Ohio. Proud to join her on the trail as we work to turn out the vote this November. Kudos to Kenn Johnson and all the volunteers who made tonight’s event possible. Let’s go win this!

On this Memorial Day, let us take a moment of reflection for those who never came home. Their sacrifice built a nation worth fighting for and we honor that sacrifice by actively participating in our democracy. Because that’s exactly what they fought and died to protect.
