Happy Juneteenth! Our Freedom Day celebrations kicked off Sunday as we welcomed hundreds to Coventry PEACE Park for the homecoming of Olympic gold medalist Laila Edwards, who was just drafted 4th overall to play professional women's hockey.

Laila represents everything that makes us proud to be a part of this community. No matter how many extraordinary new heights she reaches, she always lifts us up with her, telling all the wide eyes watching that they can do it too.

Watching her parents, teachers, city officials, and community supporters give Laila her flowers was exactly the kind of special moment we envisioned for PEACE Park when we reopened the space last year.

It was a celebration not only of Laila's remarkable accomplishments, but also of all those who have supported her along the way, and those who will be inspired by her story and her message to Dream Big.

As a public library, we're proud to be one of the many places in this community where people can discover and pursue dreams of all shapes and sizes, from Olympians to jobseekers to children opening their first book.
