This month marks the celebration of Heights High’s centennial, with events happening on June 19, 20 and 21. It’s actually the 100th anniversary of the school’s current building. A board of education was established and it took over that little one-room schoolhouse at the corner of Superior Road and Euclid Heights Boulevard, which had been built in 1882, when that land was still part of East Cleveland...

Cleveland Heights will celebrate Juneteenth with a community festival on June 13 and a parade honoring hometown hero Laila Edwards on June 14th.
Festivities begin at Cain Park on Saturday, June 13th, from 11 am to 4 pm with our Juneteenth event. Its theme, “Free to Be…,” will be expressed through live performances, music, dance, artmaking, a kids' zone, food trucks, vendors, and more!
Then, on Sunday, June 14, the City of Cleveland Heights will host a parade honoring Laila Edwards, who shattered color lines as the first Black woman to skate for Team USA Women’s Hockey, contributing to the team’s Gold Medal run at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics!
Beginning at 10 am on June 14th, the parade will step off from Washington Boulevard at Cottage Grove Avenue and process to the Coventry PEACE Park, where elected officials and community members will honor Laila for her accomplishments.
We recommend attendees park on the side streets around Washington Boulevard, at the Coventry Village parking lot, the Cedar-Lee Arts District parking lot, or the municipal lot on Cedar Road between Oakdale and Edgewood roads. There will be no street parking on Washington Boulevard.
