6lbs of the DREAMY zam super bod from Rocky Mountain Clay on a plaster batt from the ceramic shop! Inspired to try “try it Thursday” from my friend Sara • porcelain jewelry artist. I watch her weekly posts like TV. I don’t normally throw 6lbs and when I do it’s not flat bottoms. Called the amazing Brett Beasley to ask how to manage pushing clay that wide. Heal of the palm was the answer! In order to stay motivated with production (my job) I try to take a little time each week to try something new or perfect a skill. But that’s outside of work hours!
Learned this from a YouTube video with Jon the Potter years ago. I was mad I waited so long to get it! Invaluable tool!

Well we posted new hours and had them wrong. Hahaha. Summer hours as the whole town is on vacation! ALWAYS happy to meet outside hours. We literally walk to work and someone is almost always available to help!
The glazing process is so fun! Stay ‘til the end to see the finished piece! 😍
A rough day of throwing. I couldn’t get my head in the game. We try to average $1600 in thrown production per day. I can finish 70 ice cream bowls. This day, I attempted 20 and I got 10. Then lost five of those because the bottoms were too thin! Ya’ll! I throw too much for too thin bottoms! Then I forgot to wire things off the batt! Porcelain things!
Totals:
Ice cream bowls - 5x25= 125
Frog soap dishes - 3x60= 180
I can’t even account for the time loss between reclaim, and wasted throwing.
It’s like I’ve never made pottery before!
What’s your worst day like?
I always love seeing how potters set up their space, so we thought we would show you ours! Producing 89k worth of pottery in a couple of months with a small team is a big feat to say the least…. so I’ve thought through every aspect of our production set up to make sure it’s efficient and sustainable (for us and our equiptment!)
Follow along as we share more behind the scenes of our process of making 89k worth of pottery for the fall.

What did do toward our summer production challenge in the first ten days? A lot of learning. Crooked rims, tossed bisque, differently sized tumblers, but a lot of success.
Toward our 89k goal we made:
white ice cream bowls
279 X $25 = 6975
Speckled ice cream bowls
73 x $25 = 1,825.00
Paw print and strawberry trinkets
149 x $10 = 1,490.00
Limited edition mugs (these are a surprise)
11 x 55 = 605
Total = 10,895
But we have a LOT of glazing to do!
Feel free to ask questions about the supplies we use and sell or my methods. I love to share!
