For the Hounds

We had to say goodbye last week to our last greyhound . It’s been a joy and honor to have found forever homes for our sighthounds. We owe all the tribute and recognition though to Linda and Steve Fields for their vision with starting our group and in that became some of our very best friends .

Happy Memories

This album is for our babies who are happy in their forever homes. Some of them have been adopted for a while. Just thought we would share life after adoption.

I’ve been avoiding making this post for a week because then I have to acknowledge that my friend is gone. For those of you who may or may not know, one week ago today, Linda Fields passed away after ongoing health complications. 🥹
Linda was the heart and spirit of this group and worked so tirelessly over the years to rehome as many sighthounds as we could.
It was a joint effort with Steve and the rest of our volunteers over the years. It was her passion and dedication to this group that our dogs got good loving homes.
What began with Scott and I about 16 years ago, we adopted our first greyhound. We not only adopted but fostered many many dogs over the years.
But, what we gained even more was an unbreakable bond with Linda and Steve. We became instant friends as well as family members.
I am heartbroken 💔 and so sad to have lost one of my best friends. I keep thinking oh I’ll call Linda and ask her advice about so many things but I can’t do that because she is no longer with us.
We will miss her always, think of her with admiration and love but for now we say goodbye.
I’m sure that she is getting lots of doggy kisses from all of our friends at the rainbow bridge.
So for now, we say goodbye and goodnight and we’ll see you again someday my friend.

For the hounds has lost one of its founders. Mel was so instrumental in helping greyhounds find a home. She was cheerful,loving and funny. Mel enjoyed fostering and meet and greets. Fly high Mel! Bet there were lots of greys to meet you!

This sweet boy helped his former Dad to heal when he lost his heart dog, then Finn lost his Dad and one of our friends stepped up to take him and his brother. Yesterday Finn’s journey was complete. He had a wonderful life with his Dad and then another wonderful life with a family that loved him so. He is now running with his Dad, both free of pain. Gone but never forgotten.

These eyes will draw you in, such sweet pets. Joybell almost 13 yrs. old. She helped us adopt quite a few times now we treasure everyday we have left with her.

I have always felt that pets can heal and help us more than we help them. Proof of a sweet little furry girl to be the one who comforts and loves her people. ❤️🐾 Cookie aka S’mores
