I would like to thank everyone who came out to vote in the municipal election this week. At the end of the day, we fell short by a few votes. I am proud of running a clean campaign and I wish the newly elected council members the very best. I would especially like to thank Colin Jones for being an outstanding campaign manager and thank everyone who worked the polls and supported me. The Bible reminds us in several books that God opens doors no one can close and closes doors no one can open. With every closed door, there is a window of opportunity. I thank God for allowing me to serve our town for 20 years with EMS and 12 years on the council. Clayton has blessed me more than I can ever bless Clayton!! It is time for me to enjoy some rest and look out the window for my next opportunity. God Bless the Town of Clayton and the greatest county in the USA, Johnston County!

You may wonder why my campaign doesn’t have 100 signs, fancy mailers, or fundraising events. The answer is simple, I’ve spent my entire career as a public servant, and I am 100% self-funded. I cannot express how thankful I am that I am able to say that. I believe Clayton should retain its small-town feel. There are council races across the state with commercials, bill boards, and ad campaigns. When it comes to politics, it seems that the story is becoming all too common… “bought and paid for.” Clayton is too special for money to be the deciding factor of whether our charm stays in tact.

It’s important for you all to know this for many reasons. One, I think transparency in politics is extremely important and is certainly not common any longer. Two, you can be 100% certain that you are voting for just Jason Thompson. You’re not voting for any company or firm that has decided to influence me with a check. I wouldn’t be influenced anyway, Clayton is worth more to me than any check, but there’s no doubt when there’s no money. Lastly, I want you to know that our campaign has been based off hard work, effort, and not having wasteful spending. You have to work a lot harder when your campaign doesn’t have unlimited money, and you always look to pinch penny’s when you can. However, saving money and being a careful spender in this campaign was easy to me. I’ve done it on the council when wielding the purse of the Town of Clayton, keeping the most money I could in your pocket, and I will continue to be a careful spender if you trust me with your vote on Tuesday.

Remember, Election Day is TUESDAY!!! Vote Jason Thompson, Clayton Town Council.

When it comes to being on the Clayton Town Council, I have been truly blessed. Not only with the trust of the citizens, but also with a resume as a proven leader who has accomplished real, tangible things for Clayton. I’d like to share some of these with you, distinguishing myself from the pack, and showing the value in proven leadership:

- I have helped get vital equipment and training for our emergency services. This includes new fire trucks (including the new ladder truck), many utility and auxiliary vehicles for the fire department, and a station expansion for them to live and work in better conditions. For law enforcement, I have supported their acquisition of body and car cameras, additional equipment to keep the community safe, and new vehicles to accomplish their jobs. Not to mention, both departments have been able to broaden their area of practice, add key additional employees to serve our citizens, and keep Clayton safer during my time on the council.

- During my term on the council, we added School Resource Officers to every single school in Clayton. It is important to me that when your child gets their education in our town, you are confident that they are safe. Our young people are the future of the Town of Clayton, and I will continue to support their education, safety, and health at every turn.

- I have been a huge supporter of Parks and Recreation, and we have made huge strides since I joined the council. We have opened the indoor community center, opened the new park in East Clayton, opened a dog park in East Clayton, and reopened and renovated the now Clyde Sinclair Park. We also have made huge strides to open the system of greenways and trails in Clayton- while expanding our emergency services to make sure they are safe. Last, but certainly not least, Harmony Park provides an inclusive space for all children of all abilities to play with their families.

- I have had a strong record of voting against increasing taxes for Clayton residents. I believe that your money should stay in your pocket as much as it possibly can. I would much rather see that money being spent at our local businesses in Clayton than being taxed by Clayton.

- We completed the connection of NC-42 to Front St which added increased economic activity downtown, allowed for easier flow of traffic, and lessens commute times through town. I plan to continue strategizing to improve traffic in Clayton. I recognize the issues with traffic, especially on HWY 70 BUS, and I want to make real strides to fix that- like hiring a traffic engineer whose sole job it is to review changes in Clayton’s community and determine if our roads and transportation infrastructure can handle it- and what we need to match our current size.

There is no other candidate on your ballot Tuesday that can say they have been able to make as much of an impact through governmental accomplishments as I can. While I believe the credit truly goes to our town employees that execute projects and keep our town running, I am humbled to have had the ability to push the projects forward.

I kindly ask for your support, this Tuesday, November 7th, to vote Jason Thompson for Clayton Town Council.

Proven Leadership for the Town of Clayton.

I want to thank everyone who made Harvest Festival a success here in Clayton this year. There are so many individuals from public safety, the Town of Clayton, the Chamber of Commerce, and many more that are vital to this event. I’m so glad that many families got to have a great time, and it was an honor to connect with you at my booth.

It was so nice to cut the ribbon for the grand opening this year! That was certainly a memorable part of this year’s Harvest Festival.

I want to thank the Clayton Chamber of Commerce for putting together the following video. Click the link below to see me discuss some of the issues that are most important in my campaign.

This video displays all the candidates for Clayton Town Council, but I would like to speak on what sets me apart: experience and commitment to our citizens. Due to the amount of time I’ve spent on the council, living in the Town of Clayton, and serving this area as a first responder, I have immense knowledge of our strengths and unfortunately, our weaknesses. I continue to serve and advocate for Clayton the way it deserves thanks to this experience and knowledge of our town. It’s been my honor to serve you, to take every phone call and read every email from the citizens, and to vote consciously for your life and wallet in Clayton.

I speak on important issues to our town in this video such as: transportation and traffic concerns and how I would address it, the need for smart growth and throttling the speed at which it’s coming in, and to improve logistical aspects on the governance side to make sure Clayton citizens are well served.

Remember to vote Jason Thompson on November 7th for Clayton Town Council.

As someone who spent over 30 years in public service, with close to 20 of those years serving Clayton as a paramedic, I knew when I first got elected that I wanted to make sure our emergency services were properly supported. The Town of Clayton directly funds and operates the Clayton Fire Department and Clayton Police Department. While our Emergency Medical Services are now handled by Johnston County, their importance to our community can never be understated. I wanted to share some of the ways I have supported the Clayton Fire Department and Clayton Police Department during my time in office and how I intend to continue doing so if re-elected.

Clayton Fire Department:
-I voted to fund 3 fire engines, 1 heavy rescue truck, multiple support vehicles, rescue boats, and fire station improvements to make living conditions safer for our firefighters.
-I championed the addition of EMT level medical response, reducing the overall response times for critical medical emergencies.
-I voted to support the addition of multiple firefighters and staffed apparatus making Clayton a full-time career department.

Clayton Police Department:
-I voted to approve additional patrol officers, the creation of a parks police division, and the addition of School Resource Officers to every school in Clayton.
-I supported a reorganization of the rank structure within the department to streamline management of personnel and offer additional career advancement opportunities.
-I voted to support the addition of Narcan and Crisis Intervention training for each officer.
-I voted to purchase additional equipment such as body-worn cameras, in-car cameras, helmets, and other protective gear for each officer.
-I voted to purchase new fingerprint technology and several other tools to better equip our officers to make Clayton the safest town in Johnston County.

I value each and every person that puts their life on the line every day to keep our residents safe and healthy. Our community would not thrive without your hard work and dedication to Clayton.
