🎙️ M 50 vs. M 50 V - A Legacy Reborn


A recording revolution. Introduced in 1951, the M 50 shaped the sound of classical recording and became the reference for orchestral work. Its small‑diaphragm capsule, flush‑mounted in a sphere, delivers a unique polar pattern: omni in the lows, gradually more directional in the highs - the secret behind the legendary Decca Tree. With its powerful bass response and unmatched transient detail, the M 50 defined an era of groundbreaking lifelike recordings.


A faithful reissue built from original Neumann archive documentation, the M 50 V preserves everything that made the classic so extraordinary - and refines it for today’s production environment. The thin metal diaphragm and the entire capsule are now made of titanium, which is more durable than previous materials. It maintains the same acoustic design and characteristic directivity but uses an even lower‑noise subminiature tube (proven in the M 49 V) and an RF‑proof connector for modern interference-heavy spaces.
The included NM V power supply automatically adapts to local mains voltage and supports both the new M 50 V and all historic M 50 units. The iconic yoke mount returns with improved mechanical decoupling and a cable holder to reduce structure-borne noise. Handmade in Germany, the M 50 V honors the past while embracing modern reliability.
