Last week our UFCW Local 1428 Workforce Development Department in partnership with the Workers Comp & Injury Lawyers from the Law Offices of Rose, Klein & Marias LLP held a Workers Compensation Training open to all members. During the training we learned what to do immediately after a workplace injury, what workers rights are under workers compensation and how & when to report an injury and who to contact. If you weren’t able to make this class hopefully you can attend future classes brought to you by our Workforce Development Department.

Yesterday as we continue to Fight for a Fair Contract for our Union Pharmacists at Albertsons/Vons & Ralphs. OUR UFCW Local 1428 joined UFCW Locals 324 & 770 at Albertsons/Vons Corporate Office in Fullerton. After a little rally out in front we then marched to the front doors where company executives came out to meet with our delegation to hear our concerns. They heard about issues from Pharmacists from different stores and were presented with customer and patient comments that focused on the frustrations customers have on wait times and errors caused by the chronic understaffing. We are in hopes that when we return to the bargaining table that the companies can get serious and negotiate a fair contract that respects and values the work our pharmacists do day in and day out to contribute to the success of these employers!

Join us on Monday, June 15th at 1PM to give Albertsons HQ a prescription for how their business practices affect pharmacy patients (their customers). Pharmacists will be delivering prescription pads with their customers' comments on them to corporate. Yesterday at our UFCW Local 1428 Vons store #2681 in the city of Upland we teamed up with UFCW Locals 770, 1167 and 324. We joined forces and had an informational customer engagement action where we asked customers to sign on in support of Pharmacists as we continue to negotiate for a Fair Contract! We had tons of support from customers and many had even asked if we were on strike as they vowed not to cross the picket line. We assured them that at this point we are not on strike but it was nice to know that the support is there in the event if it comes to that point. Thank you to all who came out to support yesterday’s action!
