I am a stay at home mom to two special boys, and taught myself to sew.

It’s been a while since I made any clothing. The last couple weeks have been spent relearning my machines and making the boys each 5 shirts for the school year.

I took each of the boys into my sewing room and let them pick out 5 fabrics each.

I believe I will try to make them some underwear, Jax loves to wear boxers. But he doesn’t like any of the boy themed ones in the store, and they don’t make cute boxers for him.

I have created my page for stuffed animals, it is still in the beginning stages, and I have a lot more to add. But it’s a start 🙂

A few of you have asked if I sell my homemade stuffies, the answer is yes. I do.

In the next week, I will begin creating a new page just for stuffies.

Not necessarily a newcomer, but never had a proper unveiling, My Baby Lock aventura. After having her for over a year, I finally have given her a name. Laurene. Named after my grandma. My grandma was always polished, and well put together. She was very graceful, but fierce at the same time. Which perfectly describes my embroidery machine: Graceful, polished, and a temperamental force not to be reckoned with. And when I say temperamental, I mean she breaks down often, frustrates me like none other, we scream at each other, but she still works.

First commissioned pieces made. I absolutely love how adorable these stuffies turned out.

Ready to make their way off to their new home.

Fabric as always, from Cali Quilt Co

1st stuffed animal I made for me. My neighbor asked if I made myself anything, and I said not really. She asked me why, and I did not have a good response as to why. From the time I was 11-13, I was told that I was “too old” for that. Too old to collect stuffed animals. Too old to collect dog/cat figurines. (Like plastic Pokémon figures they have now but for different breeds of dogs). Too old to collect frog figurines. (I went through a phase of collecting various merchandise of different species of frogs). At 13, I was told to pack up my Barbie’s, all of my toys. My legos. Stuffed animals. Pokémon cards. Everything.

So, now as an adult when asked why haven’t I made myself anything? I decided why not.

Say hello to to Don Lino. The first of many stuffed animals in my collection.

Meet chumlee and pearl. The boys’ newest addition to their stuffie family. I finished their jellyfishes last week and they asked for shark stuffies next. There was definitely a huge learning curve with this pattern, dyslexia was at full power for it. Eventually I was able to figure it out, and now that I’ve got it, I was able to speed through the second one. They aren’t perfect, but the boys love them.

This weeks project was to make some jellyfish stuffed animals for the boys. The scale fabric I bought at Joann’s when I was pregnant with Jackson, and only knew how to make blankets, and I’ve been hoarding it since. I finally found a pattern to use it for. The solid fabrics are once again from my favorite local shop, Cali Quilt Co

The boys have both been obsessed with watching the second sonic the hedgehog movie (the one with Jim Carey) and when I saw there was a hedgehog pattern, I knew that I had to make them each one.

They turned out absolutely adorable.

Faux fur is from Etsy, the blue minky fabrics are from my favorite local shop, Cali Quilt Co, they have the most beautiful selection of minky.

And the pattern credit goes to Sew Desu Ne? Thank you for making such a beautiful and easy pattern! I can’t wait to try more of your patterns.

I made the boys bumblebee stuffies this week. It was my first time using my embroidery machine on anything other than quilting cotton. I have 2 happy kids.
