Today, on what would have been Commencement day, we want to recognize these two remarkable Writing Center tutors. Bethany Conrad is graduating with a BA in English and has been selected as the General Studies Honor Graduate! Congratulations, Bethany!! Shae Miller will be finishing her BA in Psychology next semester. Since she will only be a part-time student in the fall, this was her last semester as a tutor. I can’t say enough wonderful things about these two generous, brilliant, hard-working leaders. They have both stepped up and carried our Writing Center services remotely during this COVID-19 crisis. Bethany and Shae, we will miss you so much!

During this time in , at the Writing Center, we encourage you to let those creative juices flow! Amelia Nierinberg in a New York Times article, “The Quarantine Diaries,” encourages people to fill pages with experiences of living through a pandemic. (Link in comments.) Earlier this year before we had even heard of COVID-19, each of our tutors reflected on the question “Why do I write?” as part of the NCTE campaign.
