We were able to make these long overdue replacements thanks in part to funding from the Findlay Forward capital campaign! Swipe 👉 to see the before and after.
We’re excited to continue chipping away at a long list of needs outlined by Merchants for Market House as we continue progressing through the Findlay Forward campaign. You can learn more about all the things we’re planning on upgrading and how you can help support here: findlayforward.org

Every dollar of our $21MM capital campaign, Findlay Forward, has a job, whether they are funding Market House renovations or programmatic expansion. Last month we detailed how we’re spending Bucket 1. Let’s get into Bucket 2! ⭐
Bucket 2 includes $3.7M slated for the expansion of our food entrepreneurship and access programs. As we celebrate 10 years of Findlay Kitchen and our Food Innovation department, we are experiencing an outsized demand for these programs from folks in our community wanting to start their food business. We are also operating at capacity with our Shopping App and food access programs like SNAP, but we are committed to expanding these essential programs to meet the demand in our community.
Here are just a few things we have planned with the money from Bucket 2. 👇
🆙 Updated Findlay Kitchen equipment: 10 years of supporting more than 300 entrepreneurs means our equipment is well-loved and needs updating to keep supporting growing businesses.
🆙 Findlay Launch and Learn expansion: More and more small businesses are looking for affordable education and opportunities to make their business dreams a reality, and we’d like to meet those folks where they’re at.
🆙 Physical upgrades to the Education Center and Market Center: All SNAP and EBT transactions comes out of our Market Center. This space is small and in need of upgrading to match the high level of customer service our team provides to shoppers.
🆙 Expanded Shopping App program to benefit low-income shoppers: Our Shopping App is operating at capacity currently. We’d like to be able to reach more people more efficiently to be able to bridge the gap between Findlay Market and folks who need fresh, local food.

Since opening in 1855, Findlay Market has been much more than a marketplace, it has been a gathering place where the story of Cincinnati has unfolded for nearly 175 years. Built on land donated by James and Jane Findlay with the stipulation that it remain a public market for generations to come, the historic market house has welcomed farmers, merchants, immigrants, entrepreneurs, and families from across the region.
As Cincinnati's oldest continuously operating public market and one of the few surviving 19th-century market houses in the nation, Findlay Market has witnessed countless moments that shaped the community. Through economic booms and hardships, neighborhood changes, new waves of immigration, and generations of local traditions, the market has remained a place where people come together to shop, connect, celebrate, and build community. Its distinctive iron-frame construction helped preserve it when many other historic markets disappeared, allowing it to continue serving Cincinnati while adapting to changing times.
Today, as Findlay Market approaches its 175th anniversary in 2027, it stands as a powerful reminder that some buildings are important not simply because of their architecture, but because of the memories, relationships, and shared experiences they hold. As a Legacy 250 building, Findlay Market represents the enduring role historic places play in community life.
Does your community have a building where important events happened, traditions were born, businesses flourished, or generations gathered? Consider nominating it for Heritage Ohio's 250 Buildings, 250 Stories initiative and help us share the places that tell Ohio's story.
