When starting recovery and being prescribed medication-assisted treatment (MAT), it is important for patients to be open and honest with their medical providers in order to prevent precipitated withdrawal.π‘
Precipitated withdrawal occurs when someone takes a medication for addiction treatment, like Suboxone, too soon after use of opioids or an illicit substance. The symptoms of precipitated withdrawal can be extremely uncomfortable and dangerous.
π‘This is why it is critical for patients to talk openly with their medical provider prior to taking their prescribed medication.
If you or a loved one is ready to start recovery, call BrightView today at (866) 283-4709.π

Methadone does not need to be a last resort medication for addiction treatment for patients fighting opioid use disorder. π‘In fact, methadone has been around since the 1960s - longer than buprenorphine and naltrexone - and has had more research and data recorded than other medications.
Methadone helps reduce people's use of opioid and other drugs, reduces cravings, prevents withdrawal, and helps them stabilize in long-term recovery. Additionally, it also reduces HIV, Hepatitis C, incarcerations, and risk of overdose death.
