Over the last few months, we've been tracing some of the great images and themes that run through the entire biblical story. We've explored how God brings order out of chaos, and how the wilderness becomes a place of testing, formation, and encounter with God.
This week we'll continue our exploration of the Temple.
When most of us hear the word "temple," we think of a religious building. But in the biblical imagination, the Temple is much bigger than that. It's a picture of heaven and earth overlapping. A place where God chooses to dwell with humanity. A symbol that begins in Eden, takes shape in Israel's story, and ultimately transforms the way Christians understand Jesus, the Church, and even creation itself.
We'll spend some time following that image through scripture and asking why the Temple became one of the Bible's most important ways of understanding God's relationship with the world.
No prior knowledge is required, and you're welcome whether you've been with us from the beginning or are joining for the first time.

Each week, I've been trying to upload a Lectio Divina type prayer on Wednesdays - a way to re-center our selves on God mid-week, and to meditate a little bit on the scriptures we used on Sunday morning!

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been exploring a thread that runs through the whole story of Scripture. The movement from chaos toward life, order, healing, and new creation.
One of the things that has stood out already is just how often the Bible places people in the wilderness.

Not just geographically, but spiritually: Places of uncertainty, disorder, and even sometimes death!

Only, Instead of treating those seasons as interruptions to spiritual life, Scripture repeatedly treats them as places where people are formed.

Tomorrow night at 7, we’ll continue tracing the wilderness theme through Scripture. From Israel receiving manna in the desert, to Elijah’s collapse and renewal, to Jesus and Paul encountering God in solitude and uncertainty - people important to our faith continue finding God (and themselves) in the wilderness.

We’ll also spend some time wrestling with a difficult question:

What if wilderness is not simply something to survive…
but somewhere God still meets and shapes people?

As always, the gathering is informal and conversational. No prep required, and no pressure to speak if you’d rather listen.
