It was an honor to be asked by the esteemed Robert A. Flischel to patriciate in the creation of this important book, "What We Inherit"

This photography book documents poverty in our region from 1900-2024. Photography has changed the world for the better since its inception. We photographers point at things and ask the viewer to look again, to look deeper at the world around them.

The world still needs changing. Keep your eyes open.

When I look at the list of photographers and see my name included with artists I have admired over the last 4 plus decades, I am astonished an humbled. Many of these historically significant photographers are heros to me. I still suffer from imposter syndrome, but Bob has always been in my corner, reassuring me that I am indeed a photographer.

Thank you to Bob and to all of the photographers who fill me with awe and inspiration.

It's all about the hair! And perfect hair is overrated. These kids are all expressing their personalities on picture day. Students often give careful consideration to their outfit and their hair before picture day at school. One parent told me they had a disagreement with their son about the shirt he would wear for photo day. The boy finally agreed to take the parents favorite shirt to school in his backpack and he would put it on for the photo. Guess what, he didn't! Now they have a portrait that is truly him as well as a great story to tell when he grows up.
