There’s a lot of rain coming, Cincinnati area folks! If you experience a sewer backup, we recommend reporting it immediately to MSD. Taking pictures and video of what’s happening in your basement, even on outside sewer inlets, to show document your backup will help you and MSD identify if our combined sewer overflows caused your backup. Document as much as you can inside and out, especially what’s being damaged. Here is the website with information about how to report a sewer backup:

CUFA was represented at this action today against NV Energy’s daily demand charge. No more rate hikes for corporate greed! Not in Nevada, and no where else.

Woodlawn City Council member and community activist Michelle Starr said the flat delivery fee structure is unfair to lower energy using residents, because she says the fixed charges come with additional delivery rider increases, and represent a much higher percentage of their total bills compared to customers in larger homes who use higher amounts of energy.
"Duke applies a fixed flat rate to every customer, and it is not fair to those who use lower amounts of energy and are already struggling to pay," Starr said.
Starr is calling on regulators to consider a usage-based model for delivery fees.
"I am asking them to consider fairer billing," Starr said, "based on usage."
Erica L Black-Johnson, of the group Communities United for Action, said the complexity of Duke Energy bills is a broader problem for many families.
"There's so much on your Duke bill," Black-Johnson said. "The problem is, very few of us, if any of us, know what all of that other stuff is. We're just flabbergasted, like why?"
'It is not fair' | Why consumer groups are challenging Duke Energy's new rate hike request Duke Energy has filed for another rate hike in Ohio, this time on the electric delivery fee. But a number of consumer and citizens groups are fighting it, despite the fact it won't raise rates much.

Statehouse alert: they’re trying to make it harder for people to be able to vote by mail. Call your representatives today and tell them that every eligible voter should have an easy way to vote, not more barriers.

And this isn’t even the new electric rate increase they’re proposing, or the additional riders the Public Utilities Commission allowed them to add in the last couple years!
The Ohio Supreme Court is permitting an increase in natural gas bills for Duke Energy customers across southwest Ohio to go forward. Here's what we know: https://www.wlwt.com/article/ohio-supreme-court-approves-natural-gas-rate-hike/71512436
CUFA was in Las Vegas NV to get down with fellow People’s Action Institute (PAI) affiliate, Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN) to demand that their utility provider, Nevada Energy, cancel the daily demand charge proposal that will put further strain on ratepayers in their communities. It was a great, organized effort! Congratulations PLAN and thanks to PAI for coordinating this powerful action!
