Advantage Structural Engineers

This fall we are happy to have Carter Torbeck join us as a co-op student from University of Cincinnati. Having already had several co-ops in the construction industry, Carter brings great experience to the table and has a go-getter, can-do attitude and will fit right in to our team.

His inspiration has evolved from the satisfaction of building balsa wood structures to dreams of contributing to safe and useful infrastructure in our built environment with goals of one day becoming a licensed PE and being able to put his own stamp on drawings.

We were well represented at the SEAoO - Structural Engineers Association of Ohio conference this year. We had a great time connecting with fellow engineers and sponsors. SEAoO does a great finding engaging and thoughtful speakers and this year was no different. This year Nathan Brugger P.E. ended up being the lucky winner of the ENERCALC LEGO set.

This weekend, members of our team joined our coworker, Jessica Gilbert, at the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Greater Cincinnati’s Teal Power Run/Walk.

Jessica is an ovarian cancer survivor, and this marked her second year participating in the event as a survivor. This year was especially meaningful as she also volunteered her time to help set up the course and support an event that has become very close to her heart.

We were honored to walk alongside Jessica and show our support for her while also helping raise awareness for ovarian cancer.

Jessica shared how much having her coworkers there meant to her:
“Going through cancer has shown me just how much the people around you matter. Having coworkers who not only support me at work, but who also show up for something so personal to me means more than I can say.”

We’re proud to support Jessica and grateful for everyone who came out to walk, volunteer, and stand behind such an important cause. Sometimes the people you work with become part of the village that carries you through.

New Hire Spotlight 🔦

Kya Apperson recently joined the team and has dove right into the mix supporting our team detailing, modeling, and getting her boots dirty 🥾 onsite using the Matterport camera system. Drawn to design at a young age as an outlet for creativity and problem solving, she has come to Advantage with solid professional experience in the residential world 🏠 and hasn't missed a beat applying that to commercial structures 🏬 Outside the office you'll find her on the trail camping or hiking 🏕️ with her four-legged friends 🐶
