Tonight's Question: What's a cool name in sports?

Earlier today, the Cincinnati Bengals signed free agent cornerback Matthew McDoom, from Cincinnati Bearcats Football.

One of my favorite Notre Dame players was linebacker Michael Stonebreaker!

How about:
C**t McCoy
Milton Bradley
Coco Crisp
Major Applewhite
Kool-Aid McKinstry
Vida Blue
D'Brickashaw Ferguson
Nitro Tuggle

Whaaaaaaat is happening? The Cardinals called up their No. 3 prospect, 23-year old Joshua Baez. He's making his MLB debut at Wrigley:

1st AB: HR
2nd AB: HR

He is the only player in the last 125 seasons with 3 home runs in his major league debut.

OTD 1984: The Cincinnati Reds stun baseball by announcing Pete Rose will return to his hometown as player-manager.

GM Bob Howsam informed manager Very Rapp that he'd been fired just prior to the game vs St. Louis that night.

The Reds acquired Rose in a trade with the Expos in exchange for Tom Lawless.

At the time, the Reds were 51-70 under Rapp. They would go 19-22 the rest of the season under Rose.

Hard to believe: The Hunter Greene/Nick Lodolo era.

How about the Friday night duo of Pagan and Burke?

Emilio Pagán picked up his 15th save of the season after working a perfect 9th inning.

He has earned a win or save in each of his last 10 appearances, the longest-such streak of his career and longest by any Reds pitcher since Aroldis Chapman (16, 2012).

He's converted each of his last 9 save opportunities, tied for the longest streak of his career..

He has worked a season-high 10 straight scoreless
appearances.

Since being activated from the 15-day injured list on June 30, he has a 1.35 ERA with 9 saves in 14 games.

Brock Burke made his National League-leading 62nd appearance of the season, tied for 2nd most among all MLB pitchers (Mason Fluhart).

He struck out the side in the 8th inning, the fifth time he punched out all 3 batters faced in an inning in his Major League career.

He has allowed 1 hit or fewer in 53 of his 62 games this season, tied for the most instances among all Major League pitchers.
