If you like having access to local, pastured chicken at a farmers market near you, you NEED to be concerned about this! (Click through the images to understand what is at stake.) Public comments are due by tomorrow, Friday January 17. Please share share share!!!
There's a link to submit a comment here: https://www.regulations.gov/commenton/FSIS-2023-0028-0007?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2WHU2tkWdHi9ZeQUxcI_GyQlYpArFh2at0YLEkkxbldTirdF22qdqrcUU_aem_w5uRu54nKUyXz7LtMtWY8g
Here's is a suggested verbiage that you can easily copy & paste for your comment:
"As a consumer of locally raised and slaughtered poultry I am against the Proposed Salmonella Framework on Raw Poultry.
This proposed solution is not effective at addressing the concerns of consumers for safe or clean poultry. Please go back and listen to the stakeholder comments to draft a new solution that allows consumers to maintain private ownership of their poultry and ensures access to non-chemically sterilized poultry if desired.”

Orders for Thanksgiving pickup are still open! I'm shutting it down on Sunday evening. I just updated the inventories and some items only have a few left (Brioche Dinner Rolls and Classic Pumpkin Pie, I'm looking at you!) so make sure you hop to it. Pickup will be next Wednesday from 4-6pm at the pavilion.

OH and Veggie Quiche is making an appearance for the holiday so if you've been missing it this summer, now's your chance to snag one! You can freeze them as well.

Asheville is a place dear to my heart. We first visited in 2014, and immediately fell in love. We've made other trips throughout that region in the years since, including to Boone and Chimney Rock. I've been absolutely wrecked at what has happened with the devastation. I'll be collecting donations for the flood victims at the market Saturday; please see my pinned post for suggested items. I'll also be taking donations via my Venmo that morning, and I'll be sending all funds directly to a vetted account where the money will be used to pay for gas and fuel for both victims and folks transporting supplies to those who otherwise cannot access distribution centers. Please consider contributing. My totes can hold a LOT of stuff, and my trailer will be ready to haul!

This Saturday from 9-12pm I'll be emptying the totes and slanging bread, and I hope to fill the totes back up with donations for the flood victims. Nothing is too small or too big - I've got a large trailer that can literally hold a car LOL. Bring it on! I'll be delivering donations immediately after the Deerfield Township Farmers Market so that they can make their way to eastern Tennessee. See the image below for suggested, critical items that are needed in these early days.

I say it all the time - the pavilion is the best part about our market! Stay dry while you shop; no running from tent to tent anymore!
When it rains it pours. Don't let that stop you from visiting market tomorrow (Sept. 28th) from 9a-noon. We are open RAIN OR SHINE!!! Most of our vendors are located under the community pavilion so you can stay dry while you shop. 4188 Irwin Simpson Road 45040. See you there!

Working on some fun things that may or may not make the fall menu. Oatmeal Cream Pies were my favorite snack when I was younger. These taste like the real deal, but without all the junk. I’ll probably bring these to on Saturday morning to see how they do…that is if I don’t eat them all myself 🥰

Blueberry muffins, from finish to start. These muffins started showing up at the booth in 2017. Since then I’ve tweaked the formula over the years to land on something I can feel good about selling: a classic breakfast muffin made with eggs from my own hens🐔🐔🐔, REAL blueberries 🫐🫐🫐, organic fair trade vanilla, rich European butter 🧈🧈🧈 and not one drop of any seed oil. I sprinkle them with a bit of pearl sugar to give them a delightful crunch that pairs well with the soft crumb. They’re on the preorder menu every week, and they sell out at the booth every Saturday morning. I’ll keep making them as long as you keep loving them! 😍😍😍

Lunch is served! Just add mayo ( of course), s&p, and a cheeky glass of crisp chilled white wine. I’ll be out at the pavilion Saturday morning from 9-12pm with lots of sourdough, including baguettes. The summer’s first tomatoes are starting to appear at the farmers’ booths, and this Indiana-Midwest girl is here for it! Order page is in my bio if you prefer to preorder. Hope to see your beautiful face this weekend! 😊

I’ll be out at Deerfield tomorrow morning from 9-12pm with sourdough breads, granola, cinnamon rolls, and more! There is so much delicious local produce in season right now, including cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, carrots, and honestly just too much to mention here. Come out and support your local farmers. The pavilion is open all summer, even if the bridge isn’t. We’re just a short detour away. It’s so important to keep shopping local as much as you can so we can create ands sustain vibrant local food supply chains ❤️🍓🐔👩🏼🌾👨🏼🌾🍞🌽🫛🥬🫐🥐🧄
