I don't make any real effort to hide my bi\pan sexuality, but during pride month I always feel a bit like a poser.
Yes, I find people attractive across the gender spectrum, but I've also been married to a woman for 16 years, my marriage is monogamous, I'm very straight presenting (with a light touch of the escentric) if you just saw me on the street you wouldn't think, "that's a dude who's attracted to everyone".
None of this makes me less bi, but it does mean that the struggles I've faced in life have almost never been a result of it, which is why I feel weird about claiming any part of pride. My life is effectively that of a straight, white, suburban stay at home Dad (albeit an extremely nuero-divergent one) to any outside observer, and in most ways to me as well.
That said, I feel visibility is important, and understanding that sexuality is complex and diverse in presentation is important. So, here's me naked again, more of these uninstacropped on my site. Still here, still bi, still talking about it in art.
Happy Pride Month!

Caught this of my son playing with the hose in the back yard this afternoon. I was using my phone, so thankfully my DSLR didn't get soaked.

Hey, would anyone be interested in virtual photography lessons? Low cost, we could do one on one or meet as a group, maybe on weekends. Once we are allowed out in the world, we could keep meeting that way, or meet at my studio.
We could go over shooting with a DSLR, shooting with a phone, post-processing, etc. Whatever is helpful.
Why lie, this picture is to grab your attention.

Something I always like from a project is for the model to feel ownership over the images as much as I do. That requires collaboration.
Perhaps one of the reasons I go back to these images over and over is that whenever I worked with Ashley Jo we came up with ideas together, we came up with concepts together, and by the end of it we felt like we had created the images together. That's the kind of work I like doing the most. Working with people get a real glimpse into something about them. Ashely would come into every shoot with ideas and so would I and then we'd experiment. We'd bounce ideas back and forth, we'd look at what we took and see if we could find a better angle, a more interesting pose, framing that told a more interesting story.
Basically, we did the best thing two artists can do, we gave each other a safe space to try things and let them fail. In the midst of those shoots, I wrote her one day and asked if she had any corsets, she did and we did a shoot just seeing what interesting images we could make with them. The really interesting thing about these is that I would approach this idea very differently today, even just from a technical standpoint, but that's kind of the point. I needed this room to grow when I moved back here to Ohio and working with Ashley gave me that room and gave us both an outlet for self-expression.
I'm looking forward to getting back to helping people plan shoots that let them express something about themself and find confidence and joy. Until then I'm going to keep posting about hope, and reminders of the importance of togetherness, and self-love. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay home.
Your body loves you, love it back.

I wanted to go back and look at some of the work from the project where I started to experiment with this long exposure style. It was a fringe project called "Pieces Of The Queen".
The idea was to take recognizable landmarks from around the city and abstract them to make people take a second look at them and see them for the first time again.
This is uncropped on Patreon where you can support me and help me continue to make this kind of work. Prints of this project are for sale on my website, or just write me. I have metal aluminum prints of many of the images.

Portrait of country life in quarantine. This is my mother's house, or you know, a blur of her house. I'm posting the photo uncropped on Patreon this evening, and I'll be posting these on my website where prints will be available. You can also just write me and ask about prints if you prefer. Not just for these, but for any image you are interested in.
Visit my Patreon and support me. I'm doing some video tutorials about how I create these. Help me keep making this work!

That's how the light gets in.
Here's another abstract from the farm last week. Do you like this kind of work? Do you want to make sure I can keep making this kind of work?
Well, take a look at the uncropped image on my Patreon and become a patron!
Anyone giving at $5/month or higher gets a shoot every year with no sitting fee! If you can, help support an artist during this very scary and uncertain time.

I was in Athens this week for a family emergency, and in an attempt to calm my mind I took some abstracts of the farm. This is one of my faves. It's on uncropped, plus if you dig what I do, now is a really good time to support me. www.patreon.com/danrwin
