Day 3, some of Omaha Beach before the cemetery. One of the fascinating aspects of this tour was the military strategy and the logistics of the D-Day assault on the beaches. We had no idea how vast the area was nor did we realize that Utah Beach and Sword Beach were added to the original battle plan covering a span of 80 miles from the west flank to the east flank.

Day 2 was meeting our bus and tour guides at the airport for a 4 hour journey. We met a couple that now live near Jacksonville. She went to Ursuline and he retired from P&G. Our guides are Camille and Bettina, both from Hungary. Our driver Janish is also Hungarian. Once at our hotel near Omaha Beach we had an introductory dinner and prepped for tomorrow’s adventure.
