Last night, I had the honor of attending the Holocaust & Humanity Center's 2026 Upstander Awards Gala and seeing a project I've been working on over the past few months come to life 💙

For the gala, I designed the event program and supporting campaign materials, carrying the hand-drawn floral illustration system throughout the experience in a way that felt elegant, intentional, and rooted in this year's Strengths in Bloom theme.

The evening was filled with powerful stories of courage, resilience, and compassion. There were moments that brought many to tears and reminders that history isn't just something we remember but something we shape and create and your actions matter!

I'm incredibly grateful to the Holocaust & Humanity Center for trusting me with this work and for making me feel like a true collaborator throughout the process. It was such a joy to work alongside you and see all of your hard work come to life.

Projects that combine storytelling, illustration, thoughtful design, and community impact are the kind that fill my creative cup! Looking forward to more in the future🌼

Helping organizations tell their stories through thoughtful, meaningful design is one of my favorite parts of what I do!

Grateful for these kind words, and always excited to partner on the next creative project.

Let's talk about the flowers! 🌼

For the Holocaust & Humanity Center's Strengths in Bloom campaign, I created a series of hand-drawn floral illustrations that became part of the visual language for this year's VIA Character Strengths Journal and Museum Mindfulness experience.

Each flower was intentionally chosen to reflect values connected to the Center's Upstander mission. Together, these blooms tell a larger story about courage, compassion, and the power of choosing to stand up for others.

Which flower speaks to you most? 🌿

Last night, I attended Museum Mindfulness at Union Terminal, and it was so special getting to see a project I've really enjoyed working on this spring finally come to life! 🌼

I had the opportunity to design the VIA Character Strengths Journal used during the event as part of Cohen Family Upstander Month with the Holocaust & Humanity Center. From the journal layout to the hand-drawn floral illustrations woven throughout the pages, every detail was designed to encourage reflection, growth, and connection.

After yoga beneath the iconic rotunda, participants personalized their journals through a creative bedazzling activity, transforming each one into a unique keepsake inspired by their strengths.

It's always rewarding to see something move beyond the screen and into people's hands, and I'm grateful to have played a role in this awesome event!

A huge thank you to the Holocaust & Humanity Center for trusting me with this project. I've loved collaborating with your team this season and helping bring Strengths in Bloom to life. 💛

In this month's Trail Mix newsletter, I shared the story of summiting Mt. Hood this past weekend, my 45th state highpoint.

After six years of chasing highpoints across the country, I've started noticing a pattern. It's a lesson that has shaped how I approach challenges, creativity, and even my work as a designer.

I also shared:
🌸🧘A recent project for an upcoming community event with The Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center Upstander Month campaign at Union Terminal
📅 June studio updates and availability

Trail Mix is my monthly newsletter for Nicole Chance Design where I share adventures, creative projects, behind-the-scenes stories, and lessons I'm learning along the way.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, I'd love to have you along for the journey!

Can you spot all 3 hidden hearts in this mural design? 💕

As a mural artist, unfortunately not every design gets the chance to come to life. While I’m bummed I won’t get to paint this one this summer, I’m still really proud of the concept and work I put into it and happy to get to share it!

This was my mural concept submission for the 2026 Zone 15 Mural Project for Wyoming Community Coffee + The Work+Shop patio. The theme was “Love Lives Here,” and I wanted the design to feel like a joyful visual love letter to the Zone 15 communities of Lockland, Lincoln Heights, Woodlawn, and Wyoming.

The mural pulls together references to the area’s railroad history, Mill Creek, music culture, local gathering spaces, creativity, advocacy, recreation, and community pride through bold typography, vibrant color, and playful storytelling details. Even the hidden hearts throughout the design tie back to the central message that love, connection, and belonging.

Feeling inspired and have a wall or space you’d love to bring to life too? I’d love to make it happen! 🎨

Now booking mural projects for June–October.

I’m starting something new called Trail Mix, and I'd love for you to be part of it! 🌿🎨

It’s a monthly newsletter where I’ll share a mix of personal and business moments from Nicole Chance Design.

The name felt like an obvious fit because I’m outside a lot and usually happiest somewhere on a trail or mountain. And trail mix (the snack) has always been one of those simple things that feels like a little bit of everything good all in one place.

That’s exactly what I want this newsletter to feel like too. A mix of mural projects, branding work, behind-the-scenes process, studio thoughts, life outside the studio, and whatever else is inspiring me along the way.

I’ve always loved the parts of creative work that don’t make it into the final portfolio. Trail Mix is where all of that gets to live!

I’m really excited to finally share that I am officially stepping into full time freelancing with Nicole Chance Design as a graphic designer and mural artist 🎨💻🎉

This is something I’ve been building toward quietly for a while now. Working full time while taking on freelance projects on the side, learning, growing, and falling more in love with the work each year. At some point recently, it became really clear that I was ready to fully lean in.

If you know me, you probably know I’ve said “maybe one day” about freelancing more than once. That “one day” is now. So here I am, choosing it.

I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences that led me here, and even more grateful for the people who have encouraged and supported me along the way. This decision feels both scary and deeply right in the best way.

I’ve had a lot of people ask how they can support me, and honestly, one of the biggest ways is by following my social accounts, sharing my work, engaging with posts, recommending me to others, and keeping me in mind for future creative projects.

And if you or someone you know needs graphic design support, branding, marketing design, or a mural that brings a space to life, I’d genuinely love to collaborate.

My schedule is officially open for new projects, and I’m really excited for what’s ahead!

'Garden Daydream' is now fully in bloom 🌿🌸

I transformed my home office into a space that feels calm, creative, and alive. This 24x8 ft mural was inspired by some of my favorite flowers to grow, echinacea and cosmos! These are layered with bold organic leaf shapes to create something soft, vibrant, and a little dreamlike.

I wanted this space to feel like somewhere you could settle into and stay awhile. A place that supports focus, while still sparking inspiration.

This piece is a reminder that the spaces we spend time in matter. They can be both functional and expressive!

I’m currently booking new mural projects! If you’ve been thinking about bringing a space to life — at home, in an office, or for your business — I’d love to hear from you!
