For Jada Wakefield, participating in AFP’s mentorship program did more than she ever expected--it shaped her career journey. Matched with mentor Sydney Pepper Ballachino, Jada got deeper insight into development strategy, sector connections, and what it takes to grow as a fundraising professional.
What started as a learning experience, though, grew into something bigger. When a position opened on Sydney's team at Children's Law Center, Sydney encouraged Jada to apply. Using what she'd learned in their mentoring sessions, Jada earned the role of Development & Marketing Coordinator at CLC.
This opportunity has provided Jada with valuable opportunities to learn, develop new skills, and continue growing in her career. Opportunities like Jada’s are made possible through your philanthropic investments in the future of our profession. We invite you to give today and make more moments like this possible:

This Juneteenth, we celebrate the power of people who raise their hands to create change.

We are especially grateful for the fundraisers who show up every day to connect communities with causes that matter. Your commitment to building opportunities, advancing equity, and investing in a brighter future helps create lasting impact for generations to come.

As we honor Juneteenth and the ongoing pursuit of freedom, justice, and equality, we thank those who use their voices, talents, and resources to make a difference. Every conversation, every gift, and every act of generosity helps move us closer to a more inclusive and accessible world.

Today, and every day, thank you for raising your hand to help others thrive.
