This coming Wednesday the 21st I’ll be playing with the We Create Jazz Ensemble at the Jazz in the Camp series!
We Create Jazz is an all-female jazz group, and for this performance we will also be featuring only compositions written by women! Female jazz composers have been historically even more overlooked than female jazz performers, so we will be playing music by great women of jazz history including Alice Coltrane, Melba Liston, Dorothy Ashby, and more, plus some originals by members of the group!
The lineup will be:
Angie Coyle - tenor sax, flute
Katie Carson - trumpet
Jenna Reel - piano
Marie Knueven - bass
Chelsea Hughey - drums
This show is FREE to attend, hope to see you there!

Saxophonist, Multiple Woodwind Instrumentalist, and Composer/Arranger
I’m a professional musician based in Cincinnati, Ohio. I’m originally from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where I got my Bachelor’s degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. At UWEC I was heavily involved in the jazz bands, and I was a part of the flute studio and clarinet studio as well as the saxophone studio. I relocated to Cincinnati in 2016 to attend the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music from a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies. Since I graduated in 2018 I have been freelancing in the Cincinnati area. I lead my own group, the Angie Coyle Quartet, that primarily performs my original music. We perform at clubs around the area including the Greenwich and Caffe Vivace, and were featuring in the 2019 We Create Jazz Festival. I also play with other various jazz groups, pit orchestras for musicals, wedding bands, and R&B groups. In addition, I have a private studio at the Loveland Music Academy and teach saxophone at other schools as well.
