This year’s CNO Exchange theme was "Unlocking/Optimizing Leadership Value: Advancing the Impact of Nursing Leaders on Organizational Success." Joined by seven accomplished Chief Nursing Officers (CNOs) and Chief Nurse Executives (CNEs), conversations were centered around:

1️⃣ Nursing leaders must clearly demonstrate their value through meaningful outcomes and develop creative workforce solutions. Beyond traditional quality metrics, leaders are increasingly expected to show their impact on workforce stability (in both union and non-unionized environments), patient quality/safety, operational performance, and financial results.

2️⃣ Workforce stability is one of the strongest indicators of leadership effectiveness. Metrics such as retention, vacancy rates (including daily operational vacancies), employee engagement, average tenure, and traveler-to-permanent conversions tell a powerful story about the influence nursing leaders have on organizational success.

3️⃣ The future of nursing leadership requires a workforce that is agile and innovative to drive the business. Successful leaders are embracing technology, AI, workforce analytics, and new care delivery models while strengthening their ability to translate clinical excellence into executive and financial value.

Nursing leaders are not only driving patient outcomes, but they are also critical contributors to workforce innovation by leading strategy, operational efficiency, and overall organizational financial performance.

There have been a lot of highs, lows, wins, and strategic pivots over our history to provide organizations with high-quality talent and enable that talent to do their best work. We wouldn't be here without the continuous dedication of our team members, and it was so great to reflect on everyone's contributions.

may have come to a close, but we are still reminiscing on how we celebrated the power of nurses all month long in May! One of our highlights was when our Clinical team went around the country to do appreciation drop offs to our clinicians serving on the frontlines to deliver the highest quality of patient care.

Nurses: Thank you for all you do to bring health and healing to the loved ones in our communities! May we always celebrate and honor your hard work and compassion.

This leadership summit will be hard to beat! It was great bringing together our leaders from across the organization for a few days at our headquarters in Cincinnati to discuss how we can all empower our teams to power progress by putting care in motion.

We collaborated on the role each of our departments play in driving operational efficiency, tech enablement, and talent development. Leaving with a renewed focus, we are energized to tackle the initiatives coming in the second half of the year.
