Older Cincinnati homes have a lot of charm, but they can also come with older sewer lines.
If your home was built when Theodore Roosevelt was president, keep an eye out for slow drains, sewer odors, recurring clogs, gurgling toilets, or water backing up into tubs or floor drains. These can be signs of a larger sewer line issue.
If your drains keep slowing down or something doesn’t seem right, give us a call. Better to check than wait for a backup!

Did you know most kitchen drain clogs start with grease going down the sink? Even if you run hot water, grease cools and hardens inside your pipes over time.
Instead, pour leftover grease into a container, let it cool, and throw it away - your pipes (and your wallet) will thank you later.
If your drains are already slowing down, Allied Reddi-Rooter is just a call away.

Winter storms aren't just brutal looking out the window. They can be brutal on your plumbing inside too. A little prep goes a long way. If you haven't yet, take a few minutes now to protect your pipes.
• Let faucets drip slightly to keep water moving in freezing temps
• Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate
• Insulate exposed pipes in basements, crawlspaces, or garages
• Disconnect outdoor hoses and shut off exterior water lines
• Keep your thermostat set consistently, even overnight
If you suspect frozen pipes or a plumbing issue during the storm, give us a call. Fixing problems early can prevent major damage. Stay warm and stay safe, everyone!

Slow drains? Before they turn into bigger plumbing problems, try these three simple tricks, or if in a hurry use an old standby to help keep things moving:
Pour boiling water down the drain to help break up grease and soap buildup.
Use a baking soda and vinegar rinse to loosen minor clogs and freshen drains.
Flush drains regularly with hot water after heavy use to help prevent buildup from forming.
Trusted standby... The toilet plunger can be used on any drain, including the kitchen, bathtub and bathroom sink. Be sure to cover up any air holes in the fixture that will lessen the presser from the plunger air. This might be a temporary fix but it will get things flowing again.
If slow drains keep coming back, it may be time to call a professional. Allied Reddi Rooter is here to help.
