Design LAB

Volunteers from the architecture, engineering, and construction industry are the cornerstone of the Design LAB program. Each year, we highlight a volunteer who has gone above and beyond to empower students and contribute to the program's success. The Design LAB Volunteer of the Year is Brad Dunn!

Brad is driven to help students realize they play an important role in shaping the world around them. In his words, "Design LAB helps people recognize the impacts of the built environment on their lives and engage in making the world a better place for all." Thanks for all you do, Brad!

Last but certainly not least: the Virtual Victor award goes to Jupiter Mall, led by Beth Francis at Summit Elementary and Paul Shirley with Pelican Studios!

This award is given to the project with the most online votes.

The People's Choice award goes to The Sleepy Palace, led by Rhonda Twitty at the Spencer Center and Tim Sharp with KZF Design!

The People's Choice award is given to one outstanding project chosen by popular vote.

One of the Distinguished Designer awards goes to Peace and Quiet Meditation Temple, led by Nikki Everett at Moyer Elementary and Paul Michels with Black & Veatch!

The two Distinguished Designer awards are projects chosen by Design LAB staff.

The 6th-8th grade Inspired Innovator award goes to Peaceful Paddles Duck Sanctuary, led by Tyler Styons at Wyoming City School and Ali Hubbard with Huseman Group!

The Inspired Innovator award is given to a project that represents comprehensive, thorough, and innovative design ideas.

One of the Distinguished Designer awards goes to Oceanic Underworld, led by Preston Polen at Parker Woods Montessori and Isaiah Chapman with Peck Hannaford & Briggs!

The 6th-8th grade Juror's Choice award goes to Unicorn Sanctuary, led by Tyler Styons at Wyoming City School and Charlie Jahnigen with SHP!

The Juror's Choice award is given by jurors to an outstanding project in each grade category.

The 6th-8th grade Sustainability Surveyor award goes to Sunset Grove, led by Rena Meyer at Berry Intermediate School and Brad Meyer with TR Gear Landscaping!

The Sustainability Surveyor award is given to a project that demonstrates the best use of sustainable materials and green building solutions.
