Narcan saves lives — and having it nearby matters now more than ever.

Across Ohio, drug overdose deaths have been trending downward, with our local health departments reporting fewer fatal overdoses in 2025 compared to previous years - for example, Montgomery County has seen about a 12% decline in overdose deaths in 2025. Hamilton County is also predicting a drop in fatalities in 2025 compared to previous years.

Even as numbers improve, people are still dying every day from accidental overdoses, and we are far from eradicating the problem. With the current drug supply containing mostly tranquilizer now the Narcan will not be as effective, but it might be just effective enough to pull them out of the overdose and allow time for the paramedics to arrive.

For those that may not know, Narcan (Naloxone) can reverse an opioid overdose in minutes — giving time for a more effective medical intervention if needed, as well as gives someone another chance for… something divine to happen. This is the part that most people don’t get to see, but is my favorite part about the work that I do.

Sometimes something truly magical happens. Because they were given another chance to find hope, because someone involved “knew a guy”, or they went to one of the hospitals where our peers are stationed, they’re paths cross with mine, or someone like me, and they do what so many say they can’t or won’t do. They find the willingness to fight back and allow us to help them take that step that is “life or death”.

They don’t just get to hear it, but they get to see that we do recover. That we can come back from the pits of hell and hopelessness with a new light and purpose. Their mother or father sleeps good for the first time in years. Their children get another chance to have their Mommy or Daddy in their life. You’re not just giving another chance to an addict, you are giving their kids a chance, their family, who in both cases would give anything to have them home and healthy if even for one day.

All because you carried a box of nasal spray that you probably would’ve swore you never would’ve needed to use because you don’t think it’s in the “same area” as you frequent or because you don’t “use that stuff”.

I promise you it feels much better to know that you were able to save somebody’s life, than knowing that if you had put your ego aside and carried that Narcan, maybe that person would not have been carried out in a body bag. You will always wonder if you’re the reason they didn’t make it. Maybe you won’t, but I don’t really think it’s worth finding out. You may not think it will bother you, but I promise if you have any inkling of compassion inside you, it will haunt you for the rest of your life.

Carrying Naloxone doesn’t mean you are an addict or ever was. It simply means you believe that life has value. It means that you believe people can change. It means you support your community and the work we are doing. It means you believe that those children deserve to have a Mom or Dad. To the mother of the addict still suffering, it means their baby might not end up as a RIP status on a page. It means you are ready to act and looking out for your neighbors.

Keep Narcan accessible and close by. Even with the current drug supply, it could be the difference between life and death. And speaking from experience, you never know whose life you might save.

There is a future version of you who is proud you didn't give up.

Keep. Going.

Stop saying, that when awful things happen to people it’s “part of gods plan”.

Let’s start acknowledging that the evil in this this world is powerful as well.

The greatest lie the devil ever convinced us of, was that he didn’t exist.

Gods plan isn’t the one that hurt you, it’s the plan that will rebuild you though.

Don’t lose faith.

That was too funny not to share. I thought they actually did pretty good and they had to have done that on purpose 🔥🤣That transition is epic

Happy Veterans Day to my amazing Father. The greatest man I have ever known. He stood tall for his county, came home and has since stood tall for his family. The fight in his heart is something I have learned to admire more and more as time has passed.

He never gave up on me when I gave him more than enough reasons to do so. Even when I had given up on myself, he always tried to push me to do better.

I couldn’t have know he’d be even a better grandfather to his four grandchildrenz Harley loves her some grandpa ☺️

I hope I’m making you proud today Dad. I love you so much and it is a true honor to be your son. I don’t know what I would do without you.

If I can be half the father and man you have been to me for my daughter, I think we will be alright. Love you Dad
