🚫📚 Myth: Strong readers are born that way.
✅ Fact: Strong readers are built through explicit instruction, consistent practice, and rich language experiences.
🧠 While our brains are naturally wired for speech, reading is a learned skill that requires developing connections between letters, sounds, and meaning.
Want to help build a strong reader?
📖 Read aloud together every day.
💬 Have meaningful conversations.
🎵 Play rhyming and word games.
🔤 Support phonics and decoding skills.
Reading isn't a talent you're born with—it's a skill that can be developed at any age with the right tools and support! 🌟

☀️Happy Summer!! Keep your kiddos from suffering from the "summer slide”! 🛝 One common rule of thumb is to have your child commit to reading at least ⏱️ 20 minutes a day. 📖Reading just 4 to 6 books over the summer can prevent a decline in reading achievement! 📈

📚 Big changes are happening in America’s classrooms! After years of debate, teachers nationwide are embracing the Science of Reading, with 40+ states passing related laws. 🙌
But according to a new report from the Thomas B. Fordham Institute not every child is benefiting equally. Students from under-resourced homes still need critical support to succeed. That’s why Over-the-Rhine Learning Center is so important 💙
We provide literacy intervention to Cincinnati’s most vulnerable students 3–4 days a week, helping them build the reading skills they need to thrive. ✨📖
