Today, we approved the establishment of a Vacant Building Registry to fill the gaps in the cityβs current efforts to address vacant buildings. This initiative will help protect our public servants, reduce annual city costs, and enhance the vitality of our communities.

Great day for Cincinnati Public Schools and the citizens of Cincinnati! Today, the City of Cincinnati & CPS held a joint press conference to announce the new pay increase for crossing guards effective August 1. As of today, there are 44 vacancies out 150 total crossing guard positions which leaves some schools susceptible to traffic incidents due to lack of supervision. Crossing guards are vital to public safety and weβre hopeful this increase will help attract and retain talent in these roles.

Happy ! I am incredibly proud of the constant effort this city puts forth to foster and support an inclusive community. It is honor to stand with the Mayor and Council Members who believe the same.

Recently, I was invited to the United American Cemetery, the oldest African American Cemetery in OH, in what turned out to be a bittersweet experience. Despite being a historical gem in our city, the cemetery has been closed to the public due to hazardous land conditions. Families who have loved ones buried there are unable to visit, nor can they use the site for future burials. This is a travesty that must be investigated further to be resolved.

This morning, I had the pleasure of meeting with reps from the Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC). IKORCC represents more than 35,000 tradespeople in tristate area and works in partnership with more than 30,000 contractors!

This morning, city leaders and staff convened for a joint bike ride from Clifton to Breakfast on the Bridge capping off an exciting Bike to Work Week in Cincinnati.
One path to safer streets is proper enforcement to prevent accidents before they occur.
After reviewing the stunning report of the traffic citation data I requested, the numbers show there is an imbalance of enforcement that should be addressed for a deeper look into how we are applying our police force.
My prayers and condolences go out to the victims involved in the recent tragedy in Buffalo, NY that took place over the weekend.
We must continue to condemn these senseless acts of hatred and violence wherever they may arise.

More lifeguards = more pools
Getting our youth employed this summer must be a top priority for City Council and lifeguard hirings are one of several ways we can address this issue. Providing the Cincinnati Recreation Commission with the resources they need to effectively recruit more lifeguards is imperative so they can remain competitive within their search.
If you know anyone who is interested in seasonal employment, please spread the word! π£
