We need to publicly apologize to Siri Imani / OLTT and our community for Friday’s events.

The intent at Alice has always been to create a safe space that’s welcoming to all. A place for anybody to just have fun and get a bit weird. It’s why we don’t have VIP areas or any s**t like that. Alice is supposed to be a level playing field and accepting of everyone.

Our initial position with most venue conflicts is to go with a manager's take on it. But a lot of complexity unfolded here, so please excuse us needing some time to get to the bottom of it all.

Sadly though, we have uncovered a messy picture of miscommunication from the outset, which we take ownership of. Not because people are upset with us and we are rushing to say something that sounds good, but because we’ve taken our time to actually look at it properly and can see that it’s legitimately our f**k up.

We have never had a Weekend night without music at 10pm in the disco room, it’s a core component of Alice. These nights are what pay the team and the bills. But it’s unfair to expect Siri or any other event organizer to provide these deliverables if they aren’t written down and agreed to upfront.

This is on us, not on Siri or her team, and we are sorry to all of you who worked so hard to put the event on.

We believe that Management was trying to balance everyone’s needs and they should not be to blame for the fundamental issues. We know them to be good people who would not act with malicious intent. The issue is that we as owners need to ensure they are working with the right tools.

Regardless of the expectations, this never should have escalated to the point of Siri and team being asked to leave. Some curve balls will always come and we need to equip managers with better training and procedures that can resolve issues to the benefit of all involved.

All frustrations and anger since Friday are valid, and we hate that we’ve made anybody feel like that. All the mistakes here are squarely our responsibility as owners, not on Siri, her team or Alice’s management or team.

Moving into the future we’ll be more hands on with performer communications to avoid scenarios that could land event partners or team mates in bad situations while continuing to aim for a wider roster of musical acts & performances.

We have reached out to Siri alongside this and hope for an opportunity to make things right. That said, we understand her and OLTT’s current stance on the matter and also the anger and frustration felt by everyone else including local artists and performers.

We are truly sorry.

We love you all, and understand why you’re pi**ed.
