With great sadness we announce
Sharp Club
has closed.
Hi All…This shall be my last report from Sharp Toastmasters ( I think ) Club 9493
However, we did have a great meeting and we were blessed by guests and 2 speakers. Ellen Rosas from 108 served as our Table Topics Master. Antwon Lincoln and Jay Gluckman shared Best Table Topics honors. The Best of Hollywood was our theme and we made the most of it.
Jenny Leverman and son Max, former members from “back in the day,” gave us a most welcome visit.
Jay Gluckman told the story of Helen “Homer” Blanchard and how she became the 1st lady Toastmaster.
Jeanette Burton gave a personal and emotional talk about how she grew from embarrassment to accomplishment in a speech entitled “For every laughter, there is a tear.”
We are going to miss Ernesto Lara who served as Toastmaster/MC last night and the way he opens the meetings as Sgt. At Arms.
We put Antwon Lincoln to work as the General Evaluator and as the evaluator for Jeanette. He was the recipient of our Enthusiasm Award and so was this writer as we kept the crowd alert with side jokes.
The number 1 person who has worked the hardest to keep this club going has been Regina Fernandez. We all know it is the VP of Education runs the show more than any other officer. She has been serving as VPE, Secretary, Treasurer, ZOOM host, Hybrid technician with hubby Franklin and finder of places to meet in-person. For the past several years, she has been our Toastmaster of the Years.
We keep Deborah Vick in our prayers as she remains in a long stay in the hospital.
I consider our dissolving of this club not so much as an end…but a new beginning as we take on new adventures in Toastmasters.
Until we meet again….Cheers, Ray
