Hey everyone —
Getting really good at piano doesn’t happen because of just one person. Your teacher and your parents both help a lot.
- Your parents help by making room and time for practice, cheering you on, and reminding you to keep going.
- I (your teacher) show you how to use your hands, how to make music sound nice, and what to practice.
Some important things you do aren’t easy to see. Playing the right notes is obvious, but real progress comes from tiny habits you do every day — paying attention, practicing a little bit each day, being patient, and fixing small mistakes.
Tips:
- Practice a little every day instead of a lot one day and none the next.
- Pick one thing to work on each time you practice (like keeping steady tempo or making a phrase sound smooth).
- Slow down to fix problems, then speed up.
- Sit with good posture and keep your hands relaxed.
- Don’t forget to play piano even during the summer — keeping it up makes coming back easier.
We’re a team — you, your parents, and me. Keep trying, and the big improvements will come from the small things you do now.

The dynamics and your stage presence made the performance truly memorable — it’s a huge improvement after just one and a half years of lessons, and something to be proud of. Huge congratulations to Kara for earning the first Musicathlon Bronze Medal! 🥉🎉
Kara earned Bronze by completing the 60‑Piece Challenge and the Final Challenge (performing five pieces at recitals and class events for parents and peers). Each performance must be at 100% and be signed off by the teacher. ✅✍️
She’s two challenges away from Silver — and four from Gold and advancing to the next level: finish Music Theory (belt requirements apply) and complete the Technique Triathlon. Completing the Note Recognition and Rhythm Challenges will earn her two more medals. 🎶👏 On top of that, we’re studying repertoire, learning summer‑camp songs, and in a couple weeks she’ll perform for her classmates in a supportive setting to build confidence and self‑esteem!
Reminder: every Musicathlon event must be teacher‑signed to count; students may retake events. A piece only passes at 100% completion. 🔁
Parents — short, regular practice sessions, attending recitals, and celebrating progress make a big difference. Please encourage and support our students as they work toward their next medals! 💡🕒🎟️🎉
