Caught sitting like he pays rent, files taxes, and has strong opinions about how dinner should be served. Honestly, we’re still convinced there’s just a tiny human trapped inside this dog. 😭

Whether he was people-watching, judging politely from across the room, or showing off his impressive sitting posture, Wesley always kept us laughing. One thing’s for sure, this goofy guy has personality for days, and we’re so happy he’ll be bringing endless entertainment to his forever home. 💛

WOW! In case you missed it, last week we posted a critical need: Kitty Litter. Litter is one of our absolute highest need items, especially during kitten season. As a shelter that receives no city, county, or government funding, we rely on the generosity of our community, and if we are being honest- sometimes it’s hard to ask. We know that EVERYTHING is expensive these days and that nonprofits everywhere are in need.

We made a post, and something miraculous happened- I know you might be wondering, how do we get from “we need litter” to “miraculous”, but stay with me.

An Amazon delivery driver pulls up to the front of our shelter and starts unloading, and unloading, and unloading. You guys showed up. With so much more than litter, we received donations from across our wishlist from office supplies to cleaning supplies, on top of the litter we so desperately needed. That’s the miracle part. We are blown away by your generosity and selflessness.

From the bottoms of our hearts, THANK YOU. It’s really hard to put into words just what this support means to us, but to start, we are so grateful and honored to have your partnership. Thank you for being the reason that hundreds of animals have a chance every year at Butte Humane Society. We couldn’t do this without you ❤️ Nala pic for tax.

Sherlock found his forever home! 🎉🏡🐶

This 1-year-old Chihuahua mix may only weigh 7lbs, but he brought a huge personality with him everywhere he went. With his adorable brown and tan coat, happy spirit, and love for people, Sherlock stole plenty of hearts along the way. 💛

He was friendly, outgoing, cuddly, and always ready to show off his impressive skills including “sit,” “spin,” “down,” “paw,” and “wait.” Add in his love for treats and eagerness to please, and it’s no surprise this sweet little guy got adopted! 🦴✨

We’re so excited for Sherlock as he starts this new chapter with his forever family. Cheers to a lifetime of lap cuddles, fun adventures, and all the love he deserves. 🐾❤️

🐶🐱Please join us on Saturday, June 6th for the 3rd annual California Adopt-A-Pet day, made possible by CalAnimals, the San Francisco SPCA, and the ASPCA. With extended hours from 11am-4pm, all of our adoption fees are WAIVED!

Your new best friend is waiting to meet you at Butte Humane Society! Adoption not only gives one animal a loving home — it frees up space and resources, allowing us to help even more animals in need. Adopting a pet at our event saves the lives of countless others.

Let us help you prepare for your adoption on June 6th!

1. We recommend arriving early, doors open at 11am and there is typically a line.

2. Save time the day of and fill out an adoption application online ahead of time, even if you don’t know who you want to adopt. Applications are available at buttehumane.org

3. Bring a valid photo ID

4. Planning to adopt a dog? Bring a leash and collar, or purchase one in our shop. If you already have a dog at home, please bring them so we can help facilitate introductions with your potential adoptee. Bringing another adult who can help handle your owned dog streamlines this process tremendously!

5. Planning to adopt a cat? Bring a cat carrier or purchase one in our shop.

6. All adoptions take place on a first come, first served basis and all standard adoption procedures apply. We will not be able to hold any animals for adoptions at a later date.

7. Adoption fees are waived for the day, but our work never ends. Consider making a donation to help other animals get their second chance at Butte Humane Society.

Can you help? Kitten Season is in full force, and while we love all the extra purrs and biscuit making sessions, our kitty litter is flying off the shelves! We are in urgent need of cat litter donations. If you can donate, please bring donations by the shelter anytime from 8:30am-4pm Monday-Friday, and from 12pm-4pm on weekends. Thank you! 🐱❤️
