Exploring a new venture focused on resilient design, housing, wildfire recovery, AI, and community-based design education.
The goal is to connect students, faculty, partners, and real-world needs through applied studios, grants, and meaningful design work.
More to come — excited about where this may lead.
This is what the studio is all about: process, growth, resilience, and creative confidence. Congratulations to all my seniors ... you made us proud.

Faculty Awarded Prestigious Lantis Endowments to Advance Research for Community Impact . Truly honored—and still a little surprised—to be named a 2026 Lantis University Professor at CSU Chico.
Deeply grateful to my students, my colleagues, and CSU Chico for this honor. Lets keep building.

Proud to see Jesse Gard featured by California State University, Chico. From early sketches to a clear design direction, this is what the process is about. At DesignSI, we value that growth: turning ideas into meaningful spaces through exploration and intent.
Keep going,
I believe design education should go beyond the studio and engage with the real world. My goal has always been to empower students and to help them understand their responsibility to the communities they design for. Architecture doesn’t always have to be with a capital “A”—it can be grassroots.
Grateful for the support that makes this work possible.

Ending the semester reminded why studio culture matters. These seniors showed commitment to process, concept, and craft, and the work reflects that depth of thinking.
Looking forward to pushing boundaries even further in Senior Studio next semester—this is where ideas sharpen and voices truly emerge.

Incredible morning with my Intro to Design students at the Julia Morgan House — made even more special by a personal tour from Steve Pérez of CSU Chico.
Moments like this remind us why architecture matters: real spaces, real history, real inspiration. Thankyou

Design is best learned through experience.
Our field trip this week gave students a firsthand look at construction detailing, spatial proportion, and the relationship between concept and ex*****on.
It’s one thing to draw; it’s another to walk through the space and understand how design ideas take form.
