Here is the update as of 5:25 PM:

PG&E working to restore power to central, west Chico

The Chico power outage affecting 7,400 customers since 4:04 p.m. today was due to damaged equipment inside a PG&E substation. A technician discovered the damaged bushing on a transformer and PG&E shut off the power to the transformer for safety. Crews are now working to reroute power to another transformer and expect to begin safely restoring power to customers shortly. We are investigating what caused the damage. The outage is affecting customers in central and west Chico.
