Wind Energy Development Open House with our Collegiate Wind Competition team leader, Jack Nevin at Travis Air Force Base. We learned so much about the mitigation efforts underway relating to radar detection and wind farms. Here we are in front of Radar Approach Control. So impressed with the U.S. Air Force!
Our wind team loved being able to participate in 2018 National KidWind Challenge activities!

"If a turbine strikes a generic bird, sad as that is, it's not as critical as striking a protected golden eagle, which could potentially trigger down time in turbine operations and losses in revenue, and most important the loss of a member of a protected species."
New deterrent system may help prevent eagle deaths caused by wind turbines Wind turbines are thought to cause more than 500,000 bird deaths per year.
We're counting down the days until the 2018 CWC! Take a tour of a wind turbine with U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
