You definitely aren't experiencing the benefits of self-care when you are the last thing on your list of priorities. Thankfully, pushing yourself further up your to-do list may result in less stress, improved health, and an overall higher standard of living. Your mood, cognitive function, and memory can all benefit from taking some time to unwind and decompress.

Relaxation will enable your body and psyche to heal. You'll decide more wisely. Additionally, it will help you maintain a healthy weight, strengthen your immune system, and reduce your chance of heart attacks, hypertension, depression, and anxiety.😴🌞

We want to encourage you to attempt this just when you feel like you have the space and resources to do so, since we are aware that not everyone has the time or resources to prepare a healthy dmeal every day.

Let's start this week off this Monday by introducing Jen Elsen! She is a Nutrition Food Science major at Chico State. She is applying to the Dietetics program in spring 2023 and aspires to become a Registered Dietitian at the end of her school journey. She completed a Health 4 All! Internship during the summer, which led her to begin a new position as program assistant community health promoter at the Center for Healthy Communities. For fun and relaxation, she enjoys practicing yoga, playing with her pugs, camping with her husband, and engaging in mindful movement with friends.

Kendra Vincent is a graduate student in her final year at Chico. For her graduate project she is looking at the various effects of universal school lunch on students. This is her second semester as a counselor for FitU, where she is currently serving as a mentor and a supervisor. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, going to the beach, watching movies, baking, and hanging out with her cat, Cleopatra.
