Here’s the finished piece, from yesterday’s process video. Zoom in, there are LOTS of details!

Catching up, this is the other piece I reworked. The challenge was to blend the new with the old.

Meta is being weird and posting on Instagram no longer cross posts here too, so several recent pieces didn’t make it here.

My 2 most recent pieces stemmed from a challenge to rework old pieces.

It took me a while to find my way with this one. I looked to for inspiration. If in doubt, add another circle.

Here’s a quick and simple piece, following a bit of inspiration.

I started this one while on a phone call. The big sweeping lines led to filling the spaces. I kept it to a simple repetitive pattern because most of my focus was on the call. My pen slipped, and that led to the decision to fix it with texture. When in doubt: rainbow. The rest flowed out from there.

I started out with the idea of using bold lines with a poster marker, but as soon as I started, I realized that the marker was nearly dry, which made it extra fun to play with. There are a lot of fine dots accentuating some of the lines. I ended up with ink stained fingers, so the poster markers were a fun experiment but probably won’t make it into my regular toolbox.

Is it finished? It might be. It probably is.

I think this caption is going to be more fun than the piece itself. I started out by tracing bigger circles and smaller circles, and then connected them. I decided that there was still too much open space, so I added even smaller circles, and connected those too. Next, I had to decide whether to fill with patterns or colors, and since my last project was black and white, I decided on color. I started with the yellow, with the idea of light shining through, inspired by but pretty soon I shifted over to what just described as “when in doubt, rainbow”. Everything was flowing pretty well until I got to the lower left, and well…yes, pink does belong there, because the whole piece would’ve been lopsided without some warmth down there.

I like to sit with each piece overnight, to decide if it’s really finished. I had myself a moment and asked “what else does it need?” The answer was the lacy circle on top.

I was inspired by .designed to do my own version of a style piece. I’m sure she would add more layers & details! 😆🤣
