Medical training, of all levels, requires discipline and dedication to obtain the knowledge required to effectively serve and care for the community. When the textbook closes, how does one transition from the classroom and the clinic? The rural Simulation Center seeks to bridge this gap! Simulation education builds skills such as teamwork, judgment, and recall. Skills that go beyond the textbook to build better providers.

On July 15, our HPPP interns got to visit the Rural Simulation Center in Chico to experience medical simulation training firsthand. They learned how healthcare professionals use realistic scenarios to strengthen clinical skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and communication while building confidence in responding to real-world situations.

The Glenn County Skills Clinic was a huge success! Interns in our Healthcare Professional Pathways Program (HPPP) had the chance to explore the world of healthcare through hands-on learning experiences, including ultrasound technology, suturing techniques, and heart dissection. They also gained valuable insight into healthcare careers by hearing directly from experienced Physicians, Physician Assistants, and even a Physician Assistant student!

A special thank you to Dr. Jarrett Garrison, Dr. Mark Garrison, Jason Mower, PA-C, and Brett Brown PA-C for sharing their expertise and inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals!

Interns in our Healthcare Professions Pathways Program (HPPP) had an exciting and interactive Public Health Day Workshop at the Butte County Public Health Department in Chico!

Interns had the opportunity to hear from public health professionals, including Butte County Public Health Director Monica Soderstrom and Public Health Officer Jarett Beaudoin MD MPH.

From exploring diverse career pathways to gaining hands-on experience, our interns discovered the many ways public health professionals collaborate to keep communities healthy and safe.

A huge thank you to Butte County Public Health for hosting such an informative, engaging, and inspiring workshop! We truly appreciate your partnership and support in preparing the next generation of the public health workforce.
