🛠️🌱 Something special is coming to the Paradise Community Garden!

We’re excited to be joining the Paradise Tool Lending Library Grand Opening on Saturday, September 26 from 12–4 PM — and while the celebration is happening, we’ll be painting a brand-new mural for the Tool Library! 🎨🌻

We love opportunities like this that bring together art, gardens, food, tools, and community all in one place. Come out, watch the mural come to life, explore the new Tool Lending Library, enjoy local food, games, T-shirt printing, a silent auction, and celebrate another wonderful community resource for Paradise.

Have you spotted one of our Free the Food stands? 🌱🍅

These little stands are scattered throughout Butte County, creating places where locally grown food can be shared right within our neighborhoods.

You can find them in Paradise, Magalia, Stirling City, Oroville, Gridley, Chico and beyond, including stands at 253 Burden Terrace in Paradise, 13848 West Park Drive in Magalia, 16997 Manzanita Street in Stirling City, and several more throughout the county.

If you see a Free the Food stand, stop by! Have extra produce from your garden? Drop some off. See something fresh you’d like to take home? Pick it up.

It is a simple idea, but one we love. Grow food, share the abundance, and keep local food moving through our community. 💚

🍉💛 This is what school gardens are all about.

Today at Parkview, this HUGE yellow watermelon became something to gather around, cut open, share, and experience together.

There is something special about watching students see what can actually come from the garden they spend time learning in. A watermelon this size definitely got everyone’s attention, but the best part was getting to share it.

School gardens give students the opportunity to experience food beyond the grocery store. They get to see it grow, harvest it, taste something they may have never tried before, and share that experience with their classmates.

And sometimes, the garden surprises us with a really, really big yellow watermelon. 😂🍉

These are the moments that make GROWN so much fun. 🌱💛

Look what was waiting for us at McManus! 🌽🍅🌱

Ashley is back with our McManus students, and the garden certainly didn’t take the summer off!

Corn, beans, tomatoes, flowers and more have filled the garden, giving students a living classroom to come back to. Now comes the fun part. Exploring what grew, harvesting, tasting, saving seeds and getting our hands back in the soil.

Ashley will be helping students care for this space throughout the school year while using everything the garden gives us as an opportunity to learn about food, nature and the skills that come with growing something yourself.

🌶️🍅 Organic salsa season is coming to a close!

One of our favorite parts of working with local food is making sure the knowledge behind it gets passed along too. This season, our staff had the opportunity to learn how to make and safely preserve home canned salsa, using fresh organic produce and skills that can be carried on and shared with others.

A huge thank you to Donna Garrison for sharing her knowledge, experience, and recipes with our team. ❤️ There is something pretty special about learning these skills from the people who have been doing it for years and making sure that knowledge continues into the next generation.

Hey everyone, tomorrow is our Forest Ranch Farmers MarketMobile!

We currently set up in Forest Ranch every Saturday from 2-3:30pm at the American Veterans Store, located at 15474 Forest Ranch Way, across the street from Zavaterro Grocery.

Peach (and other stone fruits'), tomato, and melon season is coming to an end pretty soon, so be sure to pop in while these items are still available!

Also, MarketMobile accepts EBT (aka food stamps) and offers a Market Match program for CalFresh. This basically means as long as your EBT CalFresh can cover half the cost of your food purchase, we can cover the other half! This program not only allows lower-income shoppers to have greater access to local organically-grown food, but also supports the local farmers we get the food from because it allows us to buy more from them to bring to our markets.
